I think you look great, but I'd like to experiment with a sleeker shoe that would offset the distressed jeans and give it a different vibe.

The outfit still looks good, but I agree that it lacks the little quirkiness that I associate with your outfits. It does seem like you need another piece in a contrasting color. But when you're running late, you're running late...not much you can do!

I like the shirt lots, by the way!

Gotcha. Hmmm what about doing a big roll then a second smaller roll so you've got like a tiered roll thing going? It seems fun in my head, not sure how it'll work in practice

Ha, I actually *was* perfectly comfortable in the outfit. The weird face is because I was afraid someone would walk by and catch me taking a pic of my outfit in lab!

Aida, in principle I think big roll+bare ankle would work but in practice I can't get the bottom hem of these jeans up that high. They're BFs, not straights, so the bottom is quited tapered.

I like the big roll a lot, it makes a good difference. Hmm would the big roll and a peek of ankle work or is that just too crazy big at that point? I feel you on the industry-wear front. I wonder if swapping either the shoes for something more girly to match the plaid top OR the top for something more tomboy to match the shoes would help here.

Haha, there are two other people here right now wearing plaid shirts, jeans, and sneakers. Another two wearing plaid shirt, jeans, and hiking boots. All four are men. Granted all the plaid shirts are flannel or cotton, and not sheer. Oddly enough I think I would like this better with my flannel shirt. (It is a lighter and very untraditional

Unfortunately the sleeves on this shirt refuse to stay rolled. I agree they look better that way.

I think the cutout booties are a good idea. And generally I wear these cons with my other 2 pairs of BFs, both of which are substantially shorter. I think a little bare ankle really helps.

I agree with rolling the sleeves. I would cuff the jeans higher to show some ankle skin with sneakers (invisible socks) and wear big earrings. But I am in the minority on the pants length. A different shoe would probably work too! I think this outfit works great, but I know what you mean about wanting to stand out as yourself instead of totally blending in.

I think the outfit is cute on you but agree with the others that a different shoe and higher roll will make it look more "Diana." I guess you will have to blend in with your lab mates a little today

I like it with the sleeves rolled/scrunched. Maybe unbutton one button if possible? I think a bit of extra skin showing up top might balance out the dark and the light, but I dunno.

You look fantastic, but if you're not feeling it, it's because it's not you. Change one detail and it might be completely different. I would try a different top, maybe in a lighter shade.

I think you look great.
Perhaps the dark shirt with the jeans on a grey spring day doesn't feel fab, but it does look good on you. I love the cuff and I like the 'geek chic' length too. But I just want you to know that PPL is not that important to me.

An idea might be to add one of your (?teal) floral (I think you have a ditsy print?) blouse/shirts over or under the purple blouse to add something extra to the mix.

I see nothing wrong with the outfit. Perhaps it is that other scientists wear it that you are feeling out of sorts?

I do think that a higher roll would work better, but as you noted, cropped won't work.

Feels very blah and generic. Also this is like what half the scientists (men and women) I know wear - light wash jeans, sneakers, plaid shirt - so am feeling out of sorts. Ran out of time in the morning, hence the bathroom pics. I did change the cuff to Rae's big roll, which helps a bit but I still don't like the outfit. Any suggestions? I think a light scarf would help but I've not got one with me at the moment.
