Love the paisley shirt with both toppers. I like your maxi dress too but it looks too summery to wear with boots. I think because it has a high empire line waist there are a lot of gathers in the fabric ay your actual waist which creates too much bulk when you button the jacket.

Love the boots! Great score. As for proportions the cardi length is more conventionally flattering, although i think they both work. I actually prefer the jacket by a hair. Lets see it with the demin jacket!

Okay, I added a pic of the cardi instead of the jacket over the paisley. In the name of teaching me some about proportions, tell me which is better and why?

:)

You all are the best!

Ha! Like the long-johns under the dress?

I'll probably re-make the dress, or at least alter it to fit better.... someday.

I like the boots lots too! Thank you!

The paisley shirt is also handmade, but not by me. By an amateur though, they didn't cut off the selvedges of the fabric! It's bright and weird - I really like it

You made that dress? So cool! I love your outfit in 4, the shirt is bright and the sleek black plays well with it. Love your boots too, the buckles are so great.

I must say, your hair is getting cuter by the day too!

I wanted to participate in Sona's dress challenge (and in GoldenPig's scarf challenge, except that I never actually put on a scarf at all....) and Imogen's FABuary challenge (http://www.insideoutstyleblog......lenge.html) , so I started off the day with a maxi dress. It's a sentimental maxi dress, so it even fits Angie's blog today (http://youlookfab.com/2013/02/.....ia-factor/) because the fabric is from Mali, and this dress was one of my early making-my-own-pattern sewing attempts. I wore it as a swim-suit cover up all summer :)

But with it on today, it felt frumpy. So when I had to run out to run an errand, I changed. I was inspired instead by TwoBird's challenge (http://twobirdsboutique.blogsp.....-home.html) , and put on this funky paisley over black skinnies. Since it's sleeveless, it had to have a topper. This is the one I ended up with, and it's not perfect. I may need to dig out my black cropped cardi and try that....

ETA: The paisley with a cardigan instead of the jacket. I think the lengths probably play better this way - am I right?
