Nice outfits. I like that dress a lot. You're channeling the 50's look Angie blogged about. I'm not sure about a white cardi with that, though. It could take the look too far into twee. I like the pop of color idea. I like my 50's inspired dress with a jean jacket, but that might not be appropriate for your work setting.

The walk shorts outfit is fun. I like them.

I do have a white cropped cardigan that I could wear with the dress. High 90's and/or triple digit temperatures though will prevent me from wearing the cardigan all of the time though, like this week. I was most worried about the lack of color with the dress outfit. I have some patent red wedges that I tried with it, but felt the ones I wore wear more fitting for the "springy" look I was after. And, the red necklace I tried was working either. A bright purse would've helped, but I didn't carry one that day (a wristlet went in my laptop bag instead.) Maybe come fall I'll feel differently about the look?

As for the wedges in the shorts outfit, they are fairly comfortable. However, I wear heels 3 or 4 days out of the 5 days I work. These particular shoes are from Target a few years ago. The strap across the toes rubs and always has. I still put bandaids on to wear these. If it weren't for that, these would be really comfortable.

I love your outfit with shorts! It is really flattering on you and that top suits you so well - color as well as the cut. IMO you do not look overweight in this at all.
For the dress I agree with Lisa that it would look even better with the cropped jacket or cardigan, especially white. It will give you more waist definition without loosing any weight. Give it a try - I am sure you will love it.
I also love your shoes you are wearing with shorts. Is this kind of wedge comfortable?

I think both outfits look great. *two thumbs up* I also think the dress would be nice with a white cardi (perhaps cropped) or a cropped white jacket when the weather gets cooler to get more wear out of it.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com.....3e33_b.jpg
Casual, comfy dress I picked up not too long ago.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com.....e076_b.jpg
These were some crops that I had shortened. After the alteration bill, I will be wearing them regardless of how great they are.

I think I need to get serious and get rid of this extra weight. These two pictures look awful to me in that respect.
