They do the bonfire and the candle and the blessing of the baptismal water and receptions, baptisms, confirmations, first communions... Oh man, I have to admit, if you go to the Cathedral where easily a hundred people could be going through all of that... it is one loooooooong night. The priest who did our mass was really really a card. He gave a fantastic, enlightening homily... but you wouldn't have guessed he had it in him. He was just hilarious. He couldn't keep track of where he was in the service. We didn't have all seven readings, we didn't have baptisms, but we did have a confirmation and four doing first communion. It <i>was </i>confusing<i>. </i>He kept trying to skip to the Eucharist (*Is it time for the Eucharist yet?* LOL). At one point he missed something, and he was all, *It's ok. Just keep going...* LOL.</p> <p>p.s. I only wear contacts for yoga. It got too complicated. Do my contacts correct for astigmatism? Are they progressive? Do I do monovision?&nbsp;It just got worse and worse, my vision got blurrier and blurrier,&nbsp;and I found that no matter what I couldn't see the print on the computer, which is what I look at almost all day. Glasses fixed that.</p> <p>Well, the service was 2.5. The most amusing part was when the Ezekiel reading started and one or two bright people realized we had already run out of Psalms and had nothing to sing after it. Luckily one young man had three copies of the correct Psalm in his binder, in Spanish (bilingual service). One to the pianist, one to the director, one for the soloist. Quick instructions to the choir to sing along on the refrain if we could. We did a creditable job. "Como busca la la cierva corrientes de agua...." I actually have astigmatism which is not corrected for in my contacts. The first time I did the contacts/glasses thing, we kept the correction in the glasses and it gave me migraines going back and forth. Actually, at first I had two different prescriptions for each eye with the contacts, and I could not even leave the house. Made me seriously ill.
