Turns out I was plenty comfortable with the jacket I wore today. There is a skylight right over my desk so I think I'll be fine until the dead of winter!

I did have to change out my boots, though. My shins were SO SORE from yesterday's wearing. If I wet my socks right where the boots hit, it will only work when the wet sock is touching the boot, right? So, only when I'm walking? (It doesn't touch my shin when standing still.) My socks would probably dry too quickly to be effective, since I have to wear very thin socks with those boots. Or is this something I should do around the house -- put them on with wet socks and get on the treadmill?

Also, it started raining and I didn't want to mess them up. I wore an old pair of short black boots that I meant to donate last year, but it turns out they are exactly what I've been looking for this year, they just needed a comfy insole.

Oh -- and I can't return the cardigan. I bought it in a store I don't have around me and the return period is past. It didn't cost much, so I don't mind having it. It's just strange that suddenly I'm having trouble styling it after years of wearing that exact style!

I think both outfits and the shoes look great. Donna's tip is good for breaking in shoes.

I do like that cardigan because of the pattern. Are you really going to return it? If you dampen the tops of your socks with water or rubbing alcohol before you stick your feet in your booties, it will help to speed the breaking in process.

Angie, I fear that I will need a topper on TOP of these! At least that's the way it sounds when my husband talks. There are times he wishes he can wear gloves! I shall find out tomorrow!

Suz, yes! I really do have to try on a billion things to figure out what in the world I actually want and like now. Even with all my recent purchases, there is SO much I didn't buy that I might've bought a year ago.

I am so excited to be going back to work!!

Love both looks. #1 is classic modern, in my mind, but perhaps it is a formula you're ready to put on the back burner. I walked away from black work trousers for several years, because I was using them as a dull uniform. I love them on others, and they are now inching back as a part of my wardrobe.

#2 is vibrant and professional. Terrific for a first day. Good luck!

It's funny but I went through a similar process after weight loss. I quickly bought some items in my new size -- items that would formerly have been "go-to" staples. And then discovered I no longer felt the same way about them! Style changes come with body changes, I guess.

But I like the cardigan with the boots (nice bookending). And you look bright and ready for action in #2. Good luck!

The first photo features a new cardigan that I bought in August at the start of my wardrobe re-vamp, but have since decided that I'm kind of over this style of cardi. I've lived in this style for the past few years and am ready for something new. I consider this to be my "old" look, as in same-old, same-old. However, since I've never even worn it, I thought I would give it a chance. It's not visible in the photo, but there are some sequins in the top portion, which makes it look a little more interesting.

The second photo is my planned outfit for tomorrow, my first day at work!

Both outfits include my new Franco Sarto pointy toe ankle boots. I wore them this morning and I think they're going to need some breaking in. I didn't notice it when I bought them, but the top part puts an uncomfortable pressure on my shins. They're leather so they will soften, right?
