Thanks you all - I gave the second outfit a much better attempt in my next thread

I agree with the others, in that I prefer the first outfit, and I like it best without the scarf. The fall colors look great on you. I laughed when I read your description, that you dressed like a tree!
I could see the second outfit without the print shirt--i.e., the teal top, red scarf, and olive pants. I like the leg of the pant, too, as your legs look really long. I would just add: think of olive as a neutral, and you will find those pants can go with many, many colors of tops. Also, if you want to wear the shirt off-season (like now), you could try layering it under sweaters rather than having it be the outer layer.

Thanks for sharing your style experiments with us!

Thanks you all! I'm not intentionally confusing seasons - I'm really just that clueless :)

I'm glad you're helping me learn. If I can convince my kids to take them, I'll add pics of me, now more seasonally dressed for the second outfit (as in, the pieces without the shirt).

I am with the others in preferring #1. I have a big poison eye for "seasonally confused" outfits and they also make me physically uncomfortable, so take that with a grain of salt.

You look cute in your specs!

Yeah, I agree that the first outfit is better without the scarf. I hadn't thought about the white of the shirt being too spring-y. It's linen too, which is a warm weather fabric. I think it'll go in the box to wait from spring!

Teal and olive really look okay together? My eye needs some getting used to that. In my mind, navy would look good with olive, but the teal seems too green....

Thanks for the help!

I like the first outfit as-is without the scarf too. Or else I would like it with the scarf tied up shorter.

I think the white shirt looks too summery, but I have no objections to olive paired with teal!

I actually like the first outfit better without the scarf. Looks more clean and simple, and the colors are great. I like the second outfit without the floral top. The olive and teal is wonderful together, but I think the floral reads to spring time and the white of the shirt doesn't go.

Yesterday, I dressed like a tree. Brown corduroy skinnies, yellow sweater, green vest and brown cardi. I was still cold with the layers, and ended up adding a scarf for most of the day. I think this outfit might have worked if the yellow sweater was longer, and peeked out under the vest more. Am I right? What else does it need to work?

Today, I continued the nature theme with this shirt - it's white with a floral print. The print probably dates it (does it?), but I like the colors. So I made all my other pieces those colors. Olive pants (probably the next to be skinnied), a teal shirt (which normally I wouldn't wear because of the clash, but they're both in the shirt....) My widest belt (it's almost as wide as the belt loops), and reddish oxfords. I'm cold again, so wearing the red scarf. I'm not sure if this outfit works, or what about it does and doesn't. I'm not sure I like the fit of the shirt, now that I see the pictures.

Yay for days where I'm going no where and can just experiment. :)

What do you think? Thanks for your input and suggestions!
