It was the first time I've ever been in front of an audience delivering a workshop I had research, designed and presented. I was usually the girl behind the scenes, building websites and having little opportunities to speak. Since I recently became the designated web accessibility expert, I was in the position to educate others and show ways to improve websites in current projects. Why this is significant? Well, I study Career Counselling part time (for the last 2 years) and have taken an interest in workshop design and facilitation. I've only facilitated workshops in a classroom setting where I can make mistakes and be critiqued. This one is the real deal, and though this workshop is still related to my current career, I was able to apply what I've learned and successfully engaged the audience. I was so proud of myself despite feeling like I'm about to throw up right before I presented (heh).</p> <p>YLF actually had a part in this presentation. During the Toronto meet up, I met Michelle (I don't know her YLF screenname) and we talked about web accessibility for the visually impaired. I shared our conversation in class, not forgetting to note how FABULOUS Michelle looks (that got a lot of people curious so I shared an article of her written in InsideOutStyle and boy were they impressed!). Seriously though, if it wasn't for the Toronto meetup, I would not have gained that knowledge for my presentation and I wouldn't have been able to provide a real life demo! Oh, and I outed myself as a style enthusiast and a part of a style forum: something I NEVER admit because I always felt style-deficient.</p> <p>That aside.. I realized that the graphic jersey dress is my power suit. Many complimented me on this look, and I sure felt like I can take on the world with it.
