The first few WIW are the hardest, but posting regularly is really helpful in sorting out where you want to go with your style.  One of the things I appreciate the most about YLF is the way the women here find their own, unique style, incorporating trends that work for them, and feeling free to pass by those that don't. I like the blue on blue of #1 because it complements your colouring so well. You could try a white watch, maybe, a la Angie? 2,3&4 - you're happy with these and it's easy to see why. Attractive colours, pleasing proportions and appropriate to the activity at hand. #5 Yay! A winter outfit. I see this over a long sleeved chunky knit or plaid shirt. I agree that it is slightly too big, but I bought the bigger size that fitted around my hips. Not sure that was that important, because I don't think I will ever wear it zipped up. Mmm, the denim skirt and that outfit... Will have to play around with the length and colour combination. I think tapering it a bit might also help. I think the collar on your jacket is just fine as is, and the rolling the sleeves seems to work well. Personally, I like my jackets a little roomier than some people here wear them, for ease of movement and allowing for layering, so I think the fit is fine for an outerwear piece. The colours, the semi-tucks, the BF jeans, oxfords -- as Kelly says, it's all modern and not in the least frumptastic!  #1 looks great to my eye, but I wonder if you suffer from something I do -- I sometimes dislike denim with other blues and feel frumpy in that combo. Not always...it seems to work okay with some blues, and with patterned blues, obviously. But I will sometimes feel "meh" with a solid.  #2 is perfect for getting up and down from the floor!  #3 is just gorgeous on you!    And so are the rest.  As for style persona...modern classic is part of it, for sure. None of these outfits are KILLER outfits and they are probably a bit boring and safe - I hope to change that with everyone here at YLF's help. I am a SAHM. #1. I wasn't wild about this outfit. Does it shout frumpy? (Ran a few errands and took DSs to swimming lessons.) #2. Pretty happy with this outfit. Old wide leg jeans that I still really like. (2 x Kindermusik sessions with DSs.) #3. Happy with this. Your verdict? (At home for the day.) #4. Comfortable and happy. (Playdate at home in the morning and playdate at a friend in the afternoon.) #5. Generally happy but I think the jacket sleeves might be slightly too short and as Winter hasn't arrived (as promised!) I couldn't wait to get home and dress in something cooler. (Saturday morning errands.) #6. (Casual Sunday lunch with family). When I bought this fake leather jacket I thought it was as good as it was going to get. I couldn't bend my arms in any of the others that I tried on. Now I have second thoughts. The sleeves seem a bit long - I rolled them in the 3rd picture. Does it look better than in the 2nd photo? I am also not sure about the collar anymore. I think it could be altered to remove the overlapping pieces. Will that be an improvement? I have difficulty describing my style persona. Just looking at these photos, do you have any suggestions? Thank you for looking. Any suggestions and comments welcome.
