I think it’s fun to try to understand how others see us vs how we see ourselves, and what character we would be cast as if we were in the movies!
My impression of you is that you have a romantic vibe about you.

@Angie True - the rise of streaming services like Netflix means a lot more production value & thought is going into the 'everyday' TV show than before

@FashIntern I guess I should clarify - most women here are either my height or shorter, so it's not that I think the oversized look doesn't suit me based purely on my height (you know I wear maxi skirts without issue, for example). It's more that the specific street styles here often don't have enough structure for my body type - lots of dropped shoulders, long & loose dresses that surrender the waist, baggy/ flared sleeves, harsh horizontal & vertical lines etc. It looks wonderfully architectural & 'effortlessly cool' on others, but I tend to look like I'm still in my PJ's So I tend to need waist definition - hence the cardigan here that's cropped to MY natural waist (it's a petite size).

The 'ornate' comment was referring more to the common advice that 'Romantic' Kibbe Types can wear busy 'royal' looking patterns, like gold scrollwork etc. So @Shevia's Theatrical Romantic suggestion got me thinking...

It always confuses me when short people say they can’t do midis or oversized or whatever. If a skirt reaches 6” below my knee, then of course it shouldn’t reach 6” below the knees of someone a foot shorter than me—it has to be proportional.
I bet you could do oversized, as long as it wasn’t as much over as it would be for a taller person

@Gillian @FashIntern @Cardiff girl @N Thanks for the vote of confidence about the proportions! I see a lot of oversized, slouchy & architectural looks over here in HK that I wish I could emulate, but I'm slowly learning to dress for the body I have (not the one I wish I had) lol.

Haha @nuancedream they're my husband's poison eye - I think my gold slip-on flatforms are surprisingly versatile, but he thinks they're 'too shiny' for anything except a costume

@slimcat @firecracker Yes I think the curved corners of the belt buckle might be JFE to work. Wish I had more tortoiseshell actually - I'm finding it's a fairly versatile neutral that still adds enough depth for a Deep Autumn, as an alternate to animal print.

@Angie it was a rescreening of the original Ghost in the Shell anime (I've seen it before). We've had a hankering to watch something in the cinema for a while but most new releases don't appeal. Not sure if the offerings are getting worse or I'm getting old

@smittie @shevia would be interested to know what you think makes me a particular Kibbe type? I think what trips me up is that it's meant to be judged by your inherent 'lines' instead of fat, but my face looks dramatically less soft when I lose weight (especially from the jaw/ cheekbones etc). Yet I've also seen accounts that Kibbe is supposed to be judged by body alone (guess you can't tell my face here anyway hah).

At the same time though, my height means I'm often overwhelmed if I wear too many ornate prints & jewellery a la romantic, & the bombshell looks is a bit 'too much' for my personality. These sorts of frameworks are meant to help us get dressed, but I'm more confused than when I started. Think I'll just stick to cropped tops & high waisted bottoms

Super look from head to toe. I understand your preference for softer shapes, and hence your hesitancy about the belt buckle. But I don't see the belt buckle as sharp-angled, even though it is a hexagon. I think it's because the tortoise pattern disguises or softens the angles. So to me, it is very much in keeping with your soft features and wavy hair, not a visual outlier at all.

Let's just get it out there - I don't think I'll ever wear a 'true' boilersuit, as per Angie's definition, since they're a little too stiff & loose for my personal figure flattery priorities

But this 'utility-inspired jumpsuit' is the version that I find works for me - the chest pockets & shirt collar are balanced by 'softer' features, like the lightweight & warm-toned chocolate linen, wide but not too long leg, & the focal point of the tortoiseshell waist belt. I'm not completely sold on the hexagonal buckle, since I think I favour slightly curved shapes (like the aviators) as a supposed Romantic or Soft Classic Kibbe Type - input welcome if you agree/ disagree with my 'diagnosis' :P) but luckily the belt is removable & the cropped cardigan/ gold shoes add back a little softness.

And yes, I only wear this jumpsuit for occasions where I know I won't need the bathroom In this case, I went to the cinema recently, which has reopened here with limited seating (to enforce social distancing) & no eating or drinking allowed (to enforce mask wearing) - the popcorn/ snack counter was still open though, so I'm not quite sure they thought that one through
