I am slightly ambivalent about the actual outfit in terms of look and style, except that I love the shoes and the color green. I have a more flattering and loved green dress that I have shown before, but I just really wanted to be comfy today. Setting the bar high, I know. Truth be told, my outfits today are more about the jewelry. </p> <p>The bracelet in pic 1 was given to me by my mother-in-law. She grew up playing with this bracelet in her aunt's jewelry box. And she gave it to me a couple of years ago. </p> <p>Pic 2 is what I wore to my inlaws for lunch. My husband, father-in-law, and brother in law made lunch for the ladies, and again, comfort was highest on my list. I didn't realize until I was in the car how well the purse matched! That crazy purse matches E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G. Again, this outfit was only about the necklace. It used to be a belt buckle that belonged to my mother-in-law's father, who died when she was a teenager. My MIL made it into a necklace for me a few Christmases ago. What is so incredible about this is that she has a daughter that she could give all of this to. She has given my SIL something things as well, but she pays particular attention to my style and gives me things she knows that I will love and wear, as well as cherish for sentimental reasons. This means more to me than I can even express.</p> <p>Pic 3. Is my beloved MIL. I mentioned in yesterday's post how much blingy jewelry my mom loves. Well, my MIL is the exact opposite. She loves very tiny, delicate jewelry and only wears a few pieces at a time. Her signature is not as much about what is fashionable and trendy, but it is more about being impeccably groomed. Everything is perfectly pressed and cleaned. There is no spot, wrinkle or speck of lint to be found and she pays attention to every single detail. All the time. And she loves high quality fabrications, but will only buy things at great deals.</p> <p>Pics 4/5 are the reasons I am a mother. As much as I miss my sweet Ellie girl, my son has more than restored joy upon joy. [I thought you would enjoy seeing that before I was SarahTheWhite, I was Sarah the dishwater blonde with heavy highlights. :-)]</p> <p>Pic 6 - my gift from Ethan that he made in school. He painted the tree and glued buttons to it. What touched me most was the careful attention to color in his button choices. This is EXACTLY the color scheme of my house, and it was no accident.</p> <p>Happy Mother's Day to you all - in your own particular joys and it heartaches... Whatever your situation may be. (JenandEd is particularly on my heart this day!)</p> <p>ETA: Random delightful thing I came across on Facebook today... One of my friends not only honored her mother, but the woman who married her ex husband, saying "God did a beautiful thing when He brought her into my kids' lives. They have two mamas who love them to the moon and back." That was one of the most gracious things I have ever heard someone say. </p>
