I'm wondering if the oxfords themselves are causing you trouble because you don't wear a lot of light colored items. The rest of the outfit aside from the denim jacket seems heavy and dark in comparison to the oxfords. Maybe you could try them with a lighter colored bottom.

Love #2 too. You look cute & tough at the same time which is a great thing imo :)

With #1 I try to think of those sort of days as learning days - it's a positive to know what I don't feel good in & taking the darn things off feels so good :)

Love #2! Lots of playful sass and verve in the layers, lengths and textures

Thanks for the feedback! It's amazing how one can instinctively know that something is just off with an outfit.

Agree with everyone else here - #2 is a home run Hil. The proportions are great and I do think the boots work well here. That tunic is just lovely on you.

Gosh, I can't even count the number of times I've left the house not happy with what I was wearing and could hardly wait for the day to end. I think both Deborah and Ceit are right with the it being an issue with definition and proportion. Don't worry about it and just move on

#2 is great, and you should be very proud to hear me say that, because I have a ridiculous poison eye for what I consider "seasonally confused" looks. This does not seem at all seasonally confused; it is very coherent.

As for #1, we all have days like that. I have found that planning in advance really helps, but if the weather doesn't cooperate, that sometimes still throws me off my game. Love the oxfords, and love your hair, too!

I think your proportions are off in 1, I think that is what you were feeling!

Thanks Deborah... I actually tried it with a pencil skirt first, but it just looked all wrong. It has been pointed out here that the denim jacket is probably too long so maybe that was part of the problem.

I love #2! I think the mix here is perfect. I love the feminine vibe of the tunic and the hard edge of the boots. #1 is maybe not as bad as you felt but maybe not your best. I feel it just lacks definition. Love those oxfords though.
Do you have a black pencil skirt?

Photo 1: I felt decidedly uninspired yesterday about getting dressed. All I knew was I wanted to wear my oxford shoes. I tried on a thousand different things and nothing felt like it worked. I ran out of time and as a result - well I didn't love what I wore. Couldn't wait to get home to change!

Photo 2: Todays outfit... felt happier about this. The weather is truly stunning for autumn so I am wearing this summer tunic with a really lightweight cardi. I was going to wear ballet flats, but I didn't feel like cold feet so I opted for my biker boots instead. Does this mix up of seasons and styles work? I felt like it did.

Love to hear your comments, as always! x
