Updo hair is perfect to go with turtleneck.
You have a hard time looking boyish...!
I think the whole effect is very sleek and chic--the sweater has some feminine aspects with the sleeve style, the boots are sleek. No worries.

Your hair and makeup are perfection.

I also love how you Factor those into the outfit. It makes a more total, polished look.

I love the mix of pinstripes and argyle! However it seems a bit boyish, as Suz put it. It has a lot of straight lines to it. Having read the comments, seen a couple of your other outfits recently, and noticing your feminine hair and makeup, I would maybe lean towards wearing softer more feminine styles. I could see you in Botegga Veneta. Or Luisa Beccaria. Maybe some dresses from Boden and the like. Not that you can't wear more casual clothes. But you seem to love the feminine dresses and styles. The argyle sweater in your photos has puffed, gathered shoulders, another feminine soft, romantic detail. It just seems more to me that you gravitate towards a feminine and retro/ romantic style.

Just my thoughts. You look beautiful! And I love your use of lipstick as cream blush!

Suz - you saying this outfit has a boyish vibe really helped me realize that is PRECISELY what I don't like about it. And, has helped me realize that the concept of "feminine" is definitely something I want in every outfit I wear.

I say, tho, you are seriously good with hair.

Thank you so much Diane! Not sure I would do a very good job telling you, I'm better at just doing. To me it's like art.

Kkards, that is an interesting idea. I actually tried it but felt it didn't look quite right on me. I think the turtleneck just has too much fabric, and I've never felt comfortable with a popped up collar... Seems like it looks like I put too much effort into it. Which is ironic, because I do put a good deal of effort into other aspects of my outfits, but that particular thing just doesn't suit me.

l like the preppie vibe of the argyle and pinstripe. and i wondering if you could sort of wear it more like a jcrew model--- pull the collar of the shirt up so that its visable under the turtleneck?

Very pretty hairdo -- so feminine and a nice juxtaposition against the lines of the outfit and its slightly boyish vibe. Fun!

Been thinking more about style priorities... I like to have at least one body part defined/accentuated, usually either waist or legs, and this outfit does neither. Won't wear it again for sure!

I actually use lipstick as blush. It works like a cream blush, is easy to blend, and very easy to remove or adjust. Plus then you can match to your lips

I really like this! The sweater may be a teensy bit long, but you do have it pulled down quite firmly, so perhaps if it was allowed to relax a little it would look shorter?

I so wish I could beam you over magically to do my make up every day! I love how you change your looks. You should do a couple of educational posts for us :)

Another neat hairstyle, and it pairs perfectly with the argyle - playful yet sophisticated. I agree that the sweater is a little long; can you hem it/have it hemmed a couple inches? That will make all the difference.

That's an interesting question to ask, and one I should probably put more thought into more often.
More and more in moving toward only wearing what I am physically comfortable in. I used to try to squeeze into pants and skirts that were too small, (mostly because this was before I was able to buy anything for myself and almost all my clothes were hand me downs or thrifted and I would just make do) but then I would find myself so frustrated that it was affecting my mood and self esteem.
I also really want to make sure I'm wearing things that I feel are genuinely "me" ... I'm not sure this outfit fits into that category. I love the idea of the layers, and I did that mainly because I was worried about being cold at the office, but the sweater is a bit too loose around the waist area, and I don't really like the length with these pants. I think I may relegate this to only tucked into a high waisted skirt or over skinnies on the weekend.
The only other priority I can think of is using the color purple as often as possible, because it's my favorite!!

What are some priorities that others consider when putting together a new outfit?

Love the way you experiment with hair as makeup as part of your looks. The sweater is a playful twist on a classic, and a natural choice for pairing with pinstripes.

What are your priorities when you create an new outfit or look?

Gray short sleeve sweater with purple argyle pattern
Blue collared blouse with purple pinstripes under the sweater
Black tone on tone pinstripe trousers by Express
Black zip low heeled booties by Naturalizer
Simple curved rhinestone earrings
For hair and makeup, I pinned my hair up overnight into two small buns to create natural looking curls. Then I created a low chignon with a deep side part and tucked the bun under my hair at the back creating a faux-bob look. Dark vampy berry lips, strong blush and brows, nude eyes with the barest hint of winged eyeliner in soft brown.
