Just for funsies, foundation comparison.
Super yellow shade is what I wore daily for last 3 years. The very neutral beige color is what my skin tone was 10 years ago and recently switched back too. Quite a massive difference :}

Suz, thank you so much! I love that you call it my crowning glory. <3 Is is so lovely to hear. The skin changes really caught me by surprise; I had no idea how yellow my skin had become until it wasn't anymore. I very much agree about different variations of tones vs a complete season change. I haven't tried many of the cooler tones from my dark autumn palette, mostly because they haven't been abundant in retail when I shopped. BUT I will see if I can find some cooler shades to try and how they look on me. So stay tuned! :D

Dee, oh thank you I loved the outfit. It felt so easy. Also thank you re health. <3 I haven't talked much about my house and health situations here for various reasons. It's a lot to talk about (the skin changes are only 1% of the story ha!), and not a light, fun conversation. I want to say this is the first I've mentioned it in 6-12 months even. And then, healing has been a very focused journey, so I haven't really talked about it much either.

Jaime, thank you dearly-- on all counts! Lipstick... I did some checking with the dark winter forum I'm in. It seems to be a a crossover lipstick, that both dark seasons could wear. But agree: it's definitely cooler than I usually wear! I like it for a change. I've actually been searching for a good warm purple plum lipstick since I draped 3-4 years ago. (The red plums are in abundance even though that's not what I think of for plum tbh.) So I'm quite intrigued with this lipstick.

Angie, ooooh! I didn't even think of the 70s! Thank you for that! I love the 70s and that decade is often a secret little inspiration to me even if I don't directly consult 70s photos for inspiration. It's usually my easiest makeup application, too. Thank you for all your kind words, as always. <3

Bijou, thank you! I love juxtaposition, even though I didn't purposely try for it with this outfit. Guess it just came out anyway ha!

Robin, thank you for the outfit love and skin compliments! <3 skin... I honestly didn't know how yellow it had become until it suddenly wasn't yellow anymore. It is quite the huge shock!

Lyn67, thank you for such lovely, kind words <3 I'm thankful we can homeschool and yes, it's another task :} I'm glad my skin health story was helpful. To be fair, my skin was actually only maybe 1-2% of things. I had many other things going on that were much stronger tip-offs that something wasn't quite right--hormones, sleep, headaches, and more, all going on at once. My skin shift, however, is such a dramatic and unexpected change that it really caught my attention. In fact, I didn't even know how yellow it had become until it suddenly wasn't anymore the last month or so. :]

Oh, and are you homeschooling-that is also a big task! YLF! And thanx for sharing your skin health story--it's really worth to pay attention on these things.

So interesting about the skin tone changes. I am glad your health situation has improved. I love the lipstick you are wearing in the first picture and that seems like a winter shade (but I could be wrong). Anyway, you are looking fab!

I love your outfit! It's perfect for the occasion. Fun, practical, but also a touch feminine because of the footwear and your crowning glory!

That is amazing about the changes to your skin. Fabulous news that you are getting better! You look still like some type of Autumn to me -- maybe it is a question of wearing slightly different tones from the same draping/ wallet rather than a complete season change?

doggeh lover I don’t know if my answer will help you or not. :] The big shift for me has been mold remediation and healing from that. When my skin was yellow I had been living in mold unknowingly for about 3 years.

My skin tone has shifted after a lot of healing with specific measures including nervous system and limbic system rewiring, as well as full home remediation, and very specific measures and supplements from my health practitioner.

Yellowing of skin can be due to several factors so it’s really worth working with a super experienced functional medicine practitioner who can help you find what factors or root causes are going on. Yellowing can point toward issues with drainage (bowel, liver, lymph, sweating, etc), Lyme coinfections, or vitamin D absorption issues.

For makeup, I order my foundation from Elea Blake. http://www.eleablake.com
They offer drapes where you can test colors. I ordered their Strength drape to determine which foundation color family I needed and worked with them via Facebook Messenger to figure that out. The coverage is light-medium so I may get a matching concealor for a bit extra coverage around my nostrils where I have some broken capillaries.

For skincare, I consult remotely with Tierny Tassler and have for 17 years. http://www.tiernytasslerskincare.com
She’s a para medical esthetician and has 40+ years experience and expertise.

Nothing I’ve done with skincare has shifted the yellow overtones. It was really and truly health related. But Tierny has definitely kept my skin in very good shape. I’m 40 and I feel very blessed my skin has held up as well as it has, despite cystic acne, sun damage, health issues, and aging. We’ll see if it still is looking decent in another 5-10 years. I don’t know what to anticipate with continued aging and hormonal shifts.

I have been so busy with house renovations, homeschooling, and the like. And honestly, my outfits haven’t been exciting recently. Feeling inspired to share today.
Not sure what I think of this look. I literally threw it together. We are headed to a gym play date this morning. (All the kids get to run around in the gymnastics pit etc.) I still have have only three pairs of shoes, two of which are sandals. There is a 10-15 degree difference in temperatures from our house to the gym. Soooo… I tried to juggle that as well.

My skin overtones have drastically shifted. (Did I already share this?? I can’t remember…) I had no idea how yellow I was the last three years. Not true diagnosed-jaundice-yellow, still, I was yellow enough that I had to have a custom foundation made for me. Well… the foundation suddenly looked super yellow and quite pasty on me. Contacted the company and they confirmed I needed to switch to a neutral foundation. It’s still in their peach family, but it’s barely warm if at all. I’m still adjusting to the change. I also have lost most of the ruddiness in my skins. This could partially be due to skincare changes. But it’s nice it’s gone. My eyes also look less puffy and “sick.” (All changes compared in last two photos, from 2022 left vs 2024 right.) I have many health wins I still want, but it’s nice to see little shifts.

In the style department the yellowness lifting from my skin shook me a bit. Suddenly my true/dark autumn crossover lipsticks are too muted and warm; they look wrong. I still wear dark autumn well but not sure if I’ll need to shift a bit cooler or not? We shall see. At one point I was wondering if I am actually now dark winter. But I just don’t think so. My eyeshadow today is a fairly warm red-brown cocoa—not a color I see a dark winter wearing well tbh. Still need to see how I look in my sunflower yellow and burnt orange clothing, but haven’t felt like wearing them lately.

AC/DC band tee
Walmart Avia soft black/charcoal athletic jacket
Eloquii “Leigh” tapered high waist jeans
Pointy toe flats

Makeup is
Mac Blue Brown eye pigment and Mac Solar Bits black-green-bronze liner. (Both discontinued.)
L’Oreal Colour Riche Shine in Splendid Blackberry tamed with Burt’s Bees Fig lip shimmer. Tapped some of both on cheeks for matching blush
Bronzer, light foundation, and mascara
