I think there are 3 things that make this trench coat work with your skirts.&nbsp;</p> <p>1. It harmonizes with your hair and booties and is a neutral that "goes" with just about anything (patterned or plain).&nbsp;</p> <p>2. It is not a straight trench but a slightly flared silhouette so it accommodates without a lot of bunching.&nbsp;</p> <p>3. Proportions work because your midis are just below the knee. LOVE! </p> https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-midi-skirts-and-bonus-maxi-cardigan#post-1961769 Fri, 05 Oct 2018 17:28:20 +0000 Diana 1961769@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ <p>Yesterday's blog post made me want to wear my midis!&nbsp;</p> <p>1-4: &nbsp;I'm going to a Chinese banquet event tonight, so took the opportunity to wear my red trumpet midi. &nbsp;I paired it with my old standby black shell, brocade print jacket, and flat booties. &nbsp;Accessorized with a long multi-strand necklace and my Kate Spade floral tote (because I am lugging around all my work stuff today as well). &nbsp;<br />To casualize this for work (photo #5), I was inspired by today's blog post to swap out the dressy jacket for my old black maxi cardigan. &nbsp;I really like the effect over the trumpet skirt. &nbsp;<br />Photo #6 is with the shell tucked into the skirt. &nbsp;I kind of like the effect/proportions (and I think it's more in keeping with current trends) but I don't like it at all without the jacket (I realize this is mostly psychological but it is what it is) and I expect that it will get hot enough at the banquet to remove the jacket at some point. &nbsp;</p> <p>7-9: Yesterday's outfit, featuring another gored trumpet midi skirt (yes this is a favorite silhouette!)- this blue one is jersey and a lot more casual than the red one. &nbsp;I paired this one with oxfords, a blue and white floral blouse and a new handknit linen lace cardigan. &nbsp;This was supposed to be my summer cardigan but of course I didn't get it finished until October. &nbsp;Luckily it's been warm enough this week to actually wear it! &nbsp;</p> <p>10-11 are photos of the 2 outfits with outerwear, since I know some people were asking about coats with midis. &nbsp;Both feature my knee-length black trench coat, which I think is perfect for a midi. &nbsp;Both of the scarves are handknit as well.&nbsp; </p>
