It totally works for me too. Love the layering. I take it you did all the knitting? ETA, just read that you knit the fab tunic. It's lovely.

The colours and textures are amazing, Diana! I love this layering. I don't know how the heck you can do it without feeling all bulky, but if that is not an issue, I say go to it and go in your inimitable style!

Works for me Diana. Which I have to confess surprises me as I'm not usually a fan of the dress over jeans look. I think this works for me because the dress is more tunic like, and has lots of volume.

The outfit looks really good as is, to me. Very cool. I like the feminine dress and cardi over the rougher-edged jeans and boots--a winning combo in my book! It sounds like it was fussy to wear, though, with the pants wanting to shift up. I would try skinnies and see if they don't work more easily. I think they would look great, too.

So this is a different handknit tunic/dress than the sparkly cashmere one? Love the blues you've been showing us lately. You make beautiful clothes and wear them beautifully too.

Tania, the bunching got worse when I walked around; I think the problem is that the boots aren't tall or tight enough at the top to hold the pants down, so when I bend my knees they kind of shift up a bit, so I get a puddly bit right above the boot. You're probably right though that I probably notice it more than a third party would.

I like it the way you have it. It looks intentional (as you intended, ha). I think it's a fun casual outfit and I'm surprised I like a dress over jeans, as much as I do.

I like this with the AG Nikkis.

I found that my Nikkis didn't work with a new pair of mid-calf boots I tried. I think I had more bunching at the top of the boot than I see here. I see almost none here. Perhaps the wearer sees it differently, or maybe my ankles are more narrow and there really was more.

I think it's fun with the slouchy skinnies! Love the idea of oxfords for warmer weather (and I'm visualizing a skinnier jean with those actually), but I think the boots+tucking adds to the volume character. Looks cozy and appropriately warm You have the best handknits!

Today I tried layering a long drapey cardigan over a dress over pants. I think this outfit would have been better with oxfords or untucked booties, but it's too cold. I chose my Nikkis, because I consciously wanted a dress-over-pants look and not a dress-over-leggings look, but I think they are a bit bunchy with these boots and probably some skinnier jeans would have been better. What do you think? More fun/interesting with the slouchy skinnies, or would more streamlined skinny-skinnies have been better?

(Kenar cardigan, handknit tunic/dress, AG Nikki jeans, Dolce Vita boots)
