The reds are so good on you. I like the short cardi with the blouse, and the jeans fit is terrific. The proportions are great. I agree that it's nice to have variety in cardigan lengths. I worked over the last several years to add more short and boxy ones to my wardrobe, to go with wider legged pants. I've been experimenting with reorganizing my day. This has allowed me to feel like I can get dressed and not worry about having to change again, or ruining things while I clean. So far, so good. I knit it last winter and then never wore it. I didn't have enough yarn to knit fluid or full sleeves, so the sleeves are a bit narrow. Thus, if I wear puffy sleeved dresses with it, I get some pretty distinct, odd bulges on the arms. Paired with a sheer, chiffon blouse, the cardi is magnificent. So that is what I've done today. </p> <p>This blouse is a banded hem and that part of it I'm not in love with it. Thankfully it's so old the elastic died, so the band has only a little hug left. I tucked it in, however. Adore the colors and abstract print of it! Also not visible the photos, it has a copper metallic thread in the fabric. It's a really gorgeous fabric. Someday I may recut it into a better shaped blouse. We'll see. </p> <p><i></i>Having one of those days where I felt great in it until I saw the photos and wonder, <i><b>"is this any good at all??" </b></i><b></b>I do like this outfit but it also feels a bit... dated?? IDK. can't put my finger on what is bugging me about it. Maybe it's more that I put things together but it hasn't actually turned into <u>AN OUTFIT.</u> </p> <p>It's been a while since I donned a little cardi. Longer lines tend to suit my body shape better and provide a bit more coverage. I ran with it for a long time and still intend to wear longer sweaters. However, I own 4-8 midi or maxi length cardigans; I wanted some variety. </p> <p>Something I have noticed when I wear a little cardi also got me to thinking. Whenever I wear a little cardigan over a blouse or dress, or wear ingenue styled blouses (think polka dots, clip dot, tiny ruffles and pin tucks) people address me as "Miss". When I wear more womanly items, longer lines, lusher items -- people call me "Ma'am". </p> <p>It drives me BONKERS. I have always had a youthfulness to me, and I much prefer looking and being perceived as youthful. (And no, I'm not trying to stir up a hornets' nest by bringing up aging and youthfulness--this is just me.) So anyway... just rambling here. </p> <p>xo</p> <p></div> </p>
