Yes, I have taken outfit photos for 2 years since finding YLF and while I don't post every single one I have slowly watched my style and shopping habits changed over time. The photos help me to see what works, what doesn't and most importantly WHY it does or does not work. This has helped me shop faster and smarter.

After several years here, I started amassing a lot of pics. First I would put them under skirt, pants, jacket category folders. That doesn't really work, as outfits are obviously comprised of several pieces and I might be looking for a top but find it filed under pants. Then this summer I put them in monthly dated folders. I have started just deleting what clearly didn't work and outfits with items that I have now purged. Maybe keeping some meh's would help me remember what not to do, but I just have too many.
I hope keeping just the good ones to look to for inspiration, or when I'm at a loss for a FFBO, will be enough.

Oh, now I need to sort my photos! What a brilliant idea! I kind of mentally keep track of what I like and don't, but sorting my photos is definitely the next logical step. Thanks!

Funny you should ask. My outfit photos are sorted into folders my Yay, Nay and Maybe Nots. That I have to have a Nay as well as a Maybe Not kills me already, and that's before I look at the totals :-/

And despite Claire's confidence, I don't have any idea how to boho up my summer style, though I'd actually prefer that---it's all I can do to look presentable some days. I feel like I'm constantly missing the right accessories---bag, belt, shoes, jewellery---or can't put them together right. Yeah, summer's hard work!

At least in winter, I know I need to get cardigans and shoes. Actual execution is another matter, but I feel better for knowing what's wrong. In summer (also spring and fall and monsoons, in my zone), I feel... puzzled. Not good.

But! Since the start of YLF, I've at least eliminated the outfits that don't work because I'm not comfy in them or they are impractical for some reason. And the ones that make me feel like a particularly grubby, shabby old dishcloth. Life IS too short. I like to think it's made the Nay list shorter than it would otherwise be---except that it is still longer than the Yay and the Maybes outweight all! Grrr...

Claire, you always look so nice. I really never considered your summer clothes perky. Maybe I just miissed that.

Suzyq, We had a discussion about personality types a couple of days ago, http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....your-style. I know, it is hard to keep up sometimes.

Sara, I am finding that most of my likes are in my summer selections. I need to analyze the styles and colors of my fall pieces.

I've never systematically sorted my photos but I do have many more days of "likes" than I did when I first started YLF. My current problem is that I think I'm the only person on YLF who likes summer outfits better. I like the easy breezy styles of summer and I'm having a hard time with winter this year. I'm not nearly as happy with my winter outfits as I was with my summer ones. Part of the problem is I don't like layering and winter outfits can look blah without some layers. I wore bracelets (which don't work in the winter with long sleeves) and fun colored sandals in the summer to give my outfits that little bit of extra something.

@suzyq, INFJ refers to the test results from a Myers-Briggs personality test. There are four quadrants and I can't think of them all, but you could Google it.

Oh Deb, yes. I haven't divided mine into percentages, but lets say that some of my summer outfits embarrass me now. I was looking at all of my pictures on my hard drive the other day and I've really decided I don't want to look so *perky* next summer. Summer is hard I feel, unless you have a natural Bohemian style direction.

Like MaryK I try not to leave the house unless I really feel good about what I'm wearing.
Like Suz it is so much more difficult to get the "cool" factor in summer both figurativly & literally.

I often leave the house in outfits that I don't particularly like but that are practical!
This morning, for instance it is very hot and I have just returned from helping in a school kitchen/garden. I therefore wore a plain crew-neck T. for the sun protection, old shorts, daggy hat and walking shoes.
When I change, however, I will make sure I am happy with the outfit.
The progress is that pre YLF I would have stayed in the first outfit all day!

YES!!!

I haven't taken photos systematically enough, however. I DO know (on a gut INFJ level) that I was happier overall with my fall/winter outfits than my summer ones, and I have some ideas why that is. But now that it is fall/winter again, I'm feeling a bit the way I felt all summer. Maybe YLF has raised my standards for what counts as a good outfit. I'm not sure.

My summer outfits (the ones I didn't like) typically lacked texture, shine, or the "cool" factor. They were perfectly acceptable, but dull, and did not seem to express who I am, (or perhaps, who I'd like to be), even if they flattered my shape and/or were practical.

Not being comfortable/ lousy quality items were two more reasons I might dislike an outfit.

I'm still working on what I dislike in my disliked or just "meh" fall outfits.

Yes, I am a geek! Last night I could not get to sleep so what does a geek do? Why, she thinks about YLF, of coarse. I started taking pictures and posting my WIW's in the middle of August and after reading some of your recent self epiphanies I started wondering if I really liked the way I dress. I have 43 days of WIW pictures (not all have been posted) and I copied them into three folders, those I like, those I do not like, and those that are just OK. I have scrolled through the pics in each group to get a general feel about each catagory and will be working on my analysis. It was easy to decide which pic went where fairly quickly just from my gut, after all I am an INFJ. I then broke the number down into percentages.

Like - 21 or 49%
Do not Like - 9 or 21%
Just OK - 13 or 30%

This is not satisfactory to me. I think 21% is way too many times to wear something that I do not like. I suppose it is ok to have some days that are just OK, but 30%? I really need to analyze what is wrong with the days that I am not happy with my clothing choices. Has anyone else thought about this?
