The top is a soft fabrication but fairly boxy. I just kind of semi tuck the front of the top into the belt and let the rest hang loose over the belt. I think if I were to fully tuck the top and wear a belt, I would probably have to adjust the belt quite a bit during the day. This way is set and forget. It helps that the top is not super long (it is slightly above hip length).
