I love everything except the shape of the skirt. I am just not sure the Aline is "you". The outfit looks good, but to my eye not great. I feel it lacks the 'edge" I have gotten used to with your outfits.

Nothing wrong with wearing the same pair multiple times! (Guilty of it myself.) And I apologize if I contributed to the notion that WIWs need to feature new stuff.

I'm loving the combination of leopard and purple here, Una, but I have to agree that I'd like it better as more of a pencil skirt. Would it would be possible to take it in along the side seams to make it straighter?

Love this colour pairing - the leopard and purple are beautiful together. And then you've toughened it up a bit with the studded belt. I think the A-line skirt is great proportion and shape for you and works well with the blouse. For me, although I adore those Danskos, they don't quite work with the outfit. The seem heavy and dark with the skirt. Something in the taupe or brown family might work better?

I get it about the wool, Una, but I have to say I'm not loving the silhouette of that skirt. It just doesn't read as Una to me. Now I have to admit I have a real poison eye for that skirt shape, so take my comment with more than a few grains of salt, okay? I have very broad shoulders too, and whenever I wore a flared A-line skirt in the past, I felt exactly like a shoebox with a flared skirt on. Or Lurch in a skirt.

That said, I do love the bold color paired with the leopard shirt.

Super, unexpected mix of colours! Really great, and almost playful. I think either the skirt needs to be a bit straighter though (I hear what you say about a pencil, cos I can't wear one either), OR a tad longer. Maybe you have a good local seamstress who could take a bit of the fullness out?? I also think that in your climate some matching opaque tights would work well, and elongate your shape. Do you have access to Fogal tights? Cos they do them in an endless range of colours. I'm sure you could match them to any skirt colour.

Matching my tights to my skirt is the only way I can wear short boots with a skirt, cos I'm anything but leggy, and natural-colour tights break up the silhouette I want to create. Absolutely love the idea of a studded belt, and boots to give yourself an edgier 'rock' look. Good for you!! PS. Since writing all of the above, I've just found the Fogal website, and you can buy online (over 70 colours, too!). http://www.fogal.com/SHOP-ONLINE .

Fab, fab, fab! The title was promising great stuff and you have certainly delivered :-)

I have definitely not seen the two paired together before on YLF and I hope it's a start of the new trend - pairing neutral such as leopard with bold colored pieces.

p.s.

Una, an A-line or flared skirt takes some getting used to (for the eye). They felt very girlish on me at first and I nearly threw in the towel. They *are* great for a broad shoulder, as you said, and therefore I think this one is worth playing with to see if you can make feel like you. There are so many variations on the A-line too. Just because one isn't right, doesn't mean that there isn't one out there for you. I might try a lower vamped, flatter shoe with this one. I'd like to see one a few inches longer on you too. That can change the vibe from "school uniform" to more womanly.

That said, I quite like this outfit. The cobalt is magnificent on you, of course! I'm sorry for your weather. At least ironing warms you up!

Denise, sad to say I have worn these almost every day recently - they are just the easiest shoes to wear in bad weather and go with so much. I'm so LAZY!

It's true this skirt (any many skirts) are not "me", but I do have to dress up for work and it's hard to work that all out sometimes.

I like this outfit, good colors and mix of textures. A good work look. Are those the shoes you are wearing or just your inside shoes for picture taking? Just curious because I've seen you wear those shoes in lots of pictures, or maybe it's just a coincidence.

I always thought an a-line or flare helped balance my shoulders somehow. Maybe that's not the case? I do love the color of this skirt and the wool is practical for my climate. Would it be worth getting it altered? Skirts that cut inward at the hem are VERY unflattering on me and my rectangly middle, so it would have to be straight.

The shirt is from Zara last year!

The blouse and shoes are totally awesome! The skirt is a gorgeous color but I just wish it was either a little longer or at least a little less flared. I wonder how it would look if you teamed it with tights and tall boots?

I love the colour of the skirt, but I think it would look better if it didn't flare so much, a straighter cut would go with the looser top. Love the shoes and belt.

Outstanding color combination and I like how the studs play off the belt. Even playing with lighter boots to bounce off the leopard could be another great pairing. I avoid ironing as much as I can and had to pull out the iron and board for the upcoming swap. is that a new Zara purchase?

It is COLD here! Yesterday was in the 40s and rainy. I pulled out this thrifted wool j. crew skirt today and paired with my Zara leopard shirt. Added studded belt for some UWPness. I am not sure of this silhouette on me or the length - my eyes have adjusted to longer skirts.

Feedback and suggestions for improvement welcome! (I did iron it after seeing these pictures. I hate ironing!)
