I also wear lots of items that never make it on my list of classroom wear. This time, however, I also want to wear all of my summer clothes with more intention. I have often saved them for work too, but let's face it, until the end of April I barely get to wear any of those items at all, and then at the beginning of the fall semester I might have between 4-6 weeks for them again, and that's it. Both items are too long. The bottoms shorten the leg line and the tunic accentuates that integrity. The high contrast and high vamp oxfords further shorten the leg line. I am officially on vacation, which is fantastic. What usually happens then though is that I put a lot less effort into my wardrobe since I am at home, doing errands, spring-cleaning the house (speak: purging), some research, some prep work for my 7 week online summer class (which starts in July) and for fall, etc. </p> <p>A lot of clothes I always "save" for my teaching only and therefore they get very little wear during those warmer months. Thus my resolution to make an effort to continue using my wardrobe more creatively even in the months without much of a real-life "audience", to rotate my clothes more and to bring out also the more neglected items. </p> <p>#1: What I wore to the Commencement and reception on Saturday (a week ago). I bought this flowy blouse at Gap back in March and had not worn it yet. I got lucky: I saw it on clearance for $30.00, but spotted a stain on one upper sleeve. I asked and they gave it to me at 50% off, however I wouldn't be able to return it. The stain came out without a problem.<br /> #2: for Aida (these are the nude micro-weave Vera Wang tights I had mentioned in your post).<br /> #3: Stompy leg outfit par excellence! I get it, the picture speaks volumes and I promise that I won't wear this again in this composition. Worn to an Indian restaurant (my daughter's choice for her 14th birthday).<br /> #4-9: Errands (some on foot, some on bike, many in car) and one meeting. Oh, I nearly forgot: I also went to two movie matinées, I needed to catch two foreign films before they disappeared for good: "Potiche," a light-hearted comedy with Catherine Deneuve and "Of Gods and Men/Des hommes et des dieux," an absolutely brilliant film.<br /> #6: my new Fossil flats, love them.<br /> #9: The first time this year that I went out in short sleeves, without jacket/cardigan.
