Sunita - I do have a pared down style, I guess. It's mostly driven by a reluctance to change jewelry/ accessories except for special occasions. It takes me too long to pick pieces that "go" with what I'm wearing and I don't own much jewelry to begin with. I do love scarves and wear a lot of them in the fall and winter, but haven't figured out how to work scarves into a warm weather wardrobe in a way that's comfortable.

Thanks for sharing your feedback (love this forum for the honest *and* the generosity of the comments!)

I'm glad I finally overcame my apprehension about the size of the flower on the flats enough to wear them. I like them quite a bit, and look forward to getting more wear out of them!

Inge- thanks for the denim jacket advice. I have a corduroy jacket that I wear when it's a little cooler, but a denim jacket is a hole in my wardrobe, for sure.

Aida - I used to like tucking in my shirts, but I've gained a little weight around my midsection thanks to slowing metabolism. So, now I worry that tucking in my shirts will draw attention to my little beer belly and that'll look odd, given my skinny arms and legs. Part of me feels that this might be an issue of incorrectly identifying -- and dressing -- my body shape. (I think I should ask for some help on that!)

Nice to "see" you Savitha! Looks like you prefer to dress in a pared down style with minimal accessories. I think a cute denim or cropped jacket would go well with the outfits you posted (I'm a huge fan of jackets!) The ballet flats are really cute and should go with practically everything.

I don't see bland, either! #3 is such a fab little outfit, my favorite of the group (this dress looks wonderful on you!). Does the top in #1 work tucked? I think a longer skirt proportion would be more flattering there, but the pieces all look great. #4 is also sweet, and I think Inge's idea of a cheeky denim jacket with that would be a great alternative outfit.

You look great! Inge has given you some good advice. I second the idea to wear those cute flats with skinny jeans....that would take you into fall. Sometimes you just need to wear a new item a few times for it to feel like *you*. Good work, and good to see you post!

How lovely to see you post outfits, Savitha, thanks for sharing!

I don't think these are bland at all. I love the strong simplicity of the white skirt with the pink top, and those adorable grey flats are wonderful with this look.
(I think the shoes would also look great with denim skinnies, straight-legged jeans and trousers, clamdiggers etc. What do you think?)

Outfit 2: I love this style of dress on you, the green is flattering, and the silver sandals make it feel extra fun and Summer-y.

Outfit 3: is lovely too. I could also see this with a cheeky denim jacket instead of the cardigan, if you are in the mood to mix things up.

Very nice outfits! Welcome and great first post to you! I love the color of your green dress, and the length is perfect to be cool and appropriate for any setting. These clear solid colors look very flattering to your skin tones. A sweet summer look. Looking forward to your future posts here on YLF.

Well, aren't you the cutie! ;o)

Not bland at all, simple. How can hot pink possibly be bland?

I would say, based on these photos, that you really like simple, which is not a bad thing at all in my books. I think you look lovely in all these pictures, and that you have done well with your flats too. They would look great with skinny jeans, if you wear those.

If you are looking to get a little less simple, then you could start by adding an accessory that calls a little more attention to itself, or by adding a print in there. Which you might already be doing in real life... ;o)

I started a thread recently on summer casual dressing and people chimed in with tons of good advice on how to spice up very simple clothing, to add an individual vibe without sacrificing the simple. You might like to check it out if you haven't already seen it.

Now that I *can* post pictures, I'm going a little crazy :). Here are some WIW from last week: these are pretty good examples of how I usually dress.

Pic #1 shows the shoes I wore with the outfit in pic #2. I bought the flats from eBay on an impulse, and I do like them, but I struggle to style them. Even though I've had them for a year, this was the first time I wore them...the outfit was pretty bland, so I liked having the shoes to pick things up, but I don't know how well it worked.

I'd love style advice, so please don't hold back on letting me know what works, what simply doesn't, and how I can improve these outfits. Thanks for looking!
