Sounds hot to me, but less so than a camelback, and you know what you need. The nano puff in its own pocket sounds perfect for dangling off something else, no need for a bag of any sort to put it inside of. Another idea for a water bottle holder would be one that clips onto your waist and or something. Vegas is certainly not a place I’d choose for a family vacation, but when you don’t have much choice (we flew from Germany to my parents, to the conference, back to my parents’ and home to Germany. I was not about to leave my son with someone else while I traveled to another continent, and my parents refused to have him stay with them without me), you do what you can. The original springs are something I’d recommend to anyone, especially if they eschew cars like I do. Got tapas and some of the free food for gamblers, went to several attractions & free shows on the strip, a kid-friendly comedian (truly) and the original springs, which was really cool—a peaceful and interesting nature oasis just a bus ride away from all the action. The beauty, similar to your photos, was striking, especially contrasted with the OTT strip. The one for my son’s puffy coat from Uniqlo is only about 4x4, could easily hang from a belt/loop once it’s too hot to wear the jacket. We’ve used camel hydration system. I wouldn’t recommend them for the heat; you’re schlepping the water on your back, and the weight makes the pack press up against you. But seriously, I hear so many women say they expect them to be pack horses, sticking all kinds of stuff in their purse (& refusing to carry it because it’s “effeminate”) that the idea of your husband schlepping the backpack makes me smile! Yet another suggestion for a bumbag/ fanny pack here - I have one that converts into a crossbody / shoulder bag, so it's become an everyday workhorse! I'd recommend the style below in particular (think it's called a 'running belt?), just because they lay flat against the body & therefore weigh next to nothing when not in use. If it's long & durable enough, you can even use it as a lightweight sling bag - see photo #2 (I believe @salt-sea posted a recent thread about a similar topic). Lana, thank you.  I packed pretty well.  I took a pair of pants and tee for each day, hoodie, fleece shirt, and a Nanopuff.  We were walking around at the Desert Nat’l Wildlife Refuge and it was incredibly dusty.  I also took a nice outfit for eating out, but didn’t get a picture of it. Carla, your solution is the best!  I’ll just have my husband carry the backpack.  Actually, we went back to the car and he did carry my phone in his waist pack.  I was afraid it would get fried in the car. Angie, thank you.  My nanopuff jacket is grey too!  :)  I used this very lightweight backpack but against my back it was just too warm.  My husband suggested a backpack with a frame, but I like to carry as little as possible.  My binoculars and camera already weigh five pounds together.
