Jeanne, Joy and DV: Great tips for shirts! I'm not the perfect "white shirt" body, so I need to be persistent!

Lyn: I completely agree --- if I weren't hiding the fact that this shirt is a little tight in the bust (lol) This is an example of buying the smallest size I could manage, and not giving myself any ease!

I love both. Does the cardi from #1 work with the patterned shell?
For button downs I agree with Foxcroft and also try the Jones NY no iron and LL Bean Wrinkle Resistant Pinpoint Oxford.
http://www.llbean.com/llb/shop.....d-shirt-lo

These are both wonderful outfits, BethAnn. I love that we can get great feedback here. As a possible tweak to the second outfit, have you taken advantage of the print top's banded waist to belt the pants and do a faux tuck? The colors of the print fall into line with Angie's blog post today.
As for great shirts, next to Books Brothers I like Foxcroft for crispness. They are often on sale and I've even found them at thrift shops still crisp. The no iron ones really don't need pressing when taken out of the dryer promptly.

Beth Ann I love wrinkle resistant or no-iron shirts (I personally have Talbots and Lands End). They are stiffer and the collars and cuffs tend to hold up under humidity. In a pinch the cuffs and the collar are the only parts I iron -- otherwise I always iron these "no iron" shirts.

Love the new different red shades printed top, and like how you styled it! Nr 1 is also very flatering (love the plum with a cobalt!!!), what a clever buttoning up way for that purpose (so taking notes:-))
but would have left unbutonned one more button on the neckline of the white shirt for a deeper V.

The shell stays! Thanks, everyone, for taking the time to be my fab-eyes! You are all so appreciated! I'm more of a pattern than coloblocking gal, but I'm branching out!

K and Sveta: I happen to have lots of cobalt, and more burgundy by the minute! Last year, I love cobalt with clear greys, too, if you're craving a neutral to pair with it, and navy's great as well!

DV: Thanks for all your kind comments! And what sharp eyes you have! The collar is, indeed, rather listless. In fairness to the shirt, this was the end of a long teaching day, and after a muggy commute home (last Tuesday or Wednesday). The shirt material is a touch thin, has a meager collar band, and far too flimsy interfacing. It's a Coldwater Creek, which isn't too shabby, but I have been shopping for a replacement for almost a year. I ADORE Caroline Herrera's shirts! If only........ Do you have any more shirt recommendations for those of us who aren't couture?

Sarah/Claire: DH said I was "flashy" this weekend. I gasped in horror (because Divas do that sort of thing), afraid he meant Chicostastic-Pink-Cadillac-Driving flashy. Of course, he didn't. He meant that I wear vibrant color quite often. I'm actually a little sensitive about it, worrying that it makes me seem a little frivolous and unsophisticated. But I think you're right....I look my best in simple, strong, color, and I like it, too. I appreciate a beautiful neutral outfit, but they are many ways to reveal one's taste and breeding!

#1 I love the plum and blue together! I also like how your rolled the cuffs over the sweater. I also love how the sweater opens up at the top and bottom and creates a nice hourglass shape. I love the color and proportion on the skirt with the nude shoe.

The collar is bothering me on the shirt. It doesn't look "crisp" I'm a collar popper because I like the sharp lines and deep v it creates. I am admitting I have a bias for a slightly raised collar a la Carolina Herrera -- so take this comment with a grain of salt.

#2 I love the print. I am wondering if you have noticed how prints have a flattening effect (lumps, bumps and fluff seem to magically disappear). I've noticed it and can't get my hands on enough printed tops for that reason. I see absolutely nothing wrong with the print in #2. The color palette is lovely and contrasts nicely with your white jeans I love how the top is framed by the sweater. I'd totally wear and copy this outfit.

Sounds like the consensus so far is that the color blocking worked and the top can keep living in my closet! The blue skirt is Vince Camuto, and it was my first full price purchase at Nordies. I've worn it with success through Spring, Summer and Fall. It will get run about with more burgundy, as well as charcoal, this winter. It's heavier than the tubes, a nice ponte, which creates a nice smooth line. It isn't as tapered as the tube skirts, however, although, if it was, I wouldn't be able to walk, since this skirt has no slit!

Perfection! #1 just look at your great figure and the collared top is that structured counterpoint. I like the patterened top too... Esp. for creating that interest point in an otherwise simple combo. I can relate to the people around not noticing, or feeling comfortable, to comment but you look spectacular here.

I think you look fabulous! What a fun combination in #1. It works perfectly to my eye. No improvement necessary. (And how sad is it, that nobody notices how beautifully put together you are? Oy, people!! Look around you!! A goddess walks in your midst!!)

I wanted to feel uber comfortable for a 12 hour teaching day, so the cardi was the most relaxed choice, and, while I could've belted, I wanted no binding at the waist. The collared shirt was necessary, then, to add some structure to a "soft," but body skimming silhouette. The shirt is a bit small at the bust, so the type of buttoning I'm doing here is necessary. The shoes were chosen for their leg lengthening assistance.

Any feedback on the color choice and/or silhouette? I was very comfy, but I never receive feedback on anything I wear. People at work or in my circle of friends never comment positively or negatively, so I need to know if I missing something!

2. K/T I purchased this sleeveless shell last year, because I was intrigued by it's mix of pink and warm red, and it's abstract pattern. However, I'm never sure if it's fab or just garish. This photo isn't the best. The top is loose in the midriff, but fits in the hip like a banded top. I can bring it lower than it is here, and the ripples are the shirt, not my own, personal "fluff." Whadya think? Are the colors and print working for me, or fighting me for attention?
