The colours are lovely on you and the combination overall is good. What you've done with the sleeves makes them look right. I wonder whether the length would be less problem if there was less contrast between the top and bottom?

Wow, super fab matching to the boots and you can always layer it with a longer camisole (say burgundy?) if you wanted a longer length for the torso & sleeves can be worn 3/4 scrunched:-)

You look fab. I love the colours and print on your top and how it ties in with your boots. I wouldn't have noticed the difficulties you identified, so you have disguised them well. And I tend to match socks too...

I see why you love the top despite its difficulties. It looks beautiful with your coloring. I have some tops that hit me at an awkward length - I always wear a cami or tank underneath so I don't think about it too much.

What beautiful socks, make me rethink the whole steal my husband socks policy that has been going on in my home.
I like the shirt and have no problem with the sleeve length. The length of the shirt itself is a tiny short but not overly so. Have you tried to wear it with a skirt and those great boots ?

Lovely outfit! You look great in the top! But I understand the feeling of it being too short, I get that too. I always wear a cami under in such occasions, and I saw in a comment that you do too.

Love your socks - and love that you wear them for the happy feeling they bring, even if they don't show!

Thanks, Joy! My knitting time is kind of overbooked right now, and as much as I like ponchos I'm not sure of their longevity in my wardrobe. And I'd probably do one poncho, not multiples, if I did. I do hope to cast on for another sweater for myself someday soon ...

Those socks are beautiful! Now you need to knit yourself some ponchos.

I have a few too short shirts that get worn with skirts or with something long over or under them if I really want to keep them. They usually get donated quickly unless really special.

I'm 5'9" too and have really long limbs. I like the top (I love that sort of tatoo-but-not blatant print). I hate it when tops are just a bit too short in length and can't stand the too-short sleeves . . . for bracelet length sleeves to work on me they have to be really stylized, like 60s or 70s-esque. Otherwise I just feel silly. I love your socks! I'm just a beginner knitter, but I really want to knit socks and hats for myself-- no one else in my life appreciates those type of things.

Re: cuff bracelets. The one I wear most often is easy to slip off when I'm typing or doing something where it gets in the way. I find it easier than a regular bracelet, which gets in the way when I'm using my laptop and is a pain to remove.

Thanks, everyone! I realized after posting that wearing my high-rise jeans instead of these mid-rise ones would help the too-short shirt situation. Now I feel silly, but oh well. I don't wear this top as often as I'd like, because of the issues. But I'm enjoying it today, regardless.

Jenn: Cuff bracelets get in my way. Have you just gotten used to them? I frequently go the cami underlayer route, too (too short in the torso is a familiar problem since I'm long-torsoed). This shirt, though, I believe was designed as bracelet-length sleeves. Weird.

Angie: It feels a little silly to care about those kinds of details, but it does add to my happiness, so whatever.

Bijou: I was looking for a denim skirt, but I don't have one right now. I don't wear skirts often, actually. Jeans are practically a uniform for me.

The colour of the top and pattern are lovely, this outfit looks great just as it is. Do you ever wear skirts? I find that tops that have a shorter length often sit perfectly with a skirt. A denim skirt would work well with this look and also show off more of your beautiful boots.

I can see how well the shirt matches the boots and fun socks. I love that level of detailing - and best of all - how it makes you happy.

The top is a little short in length as you already mentioned. Sleeves look great scrunched. But the top makes you happy - so WEAR IT. That's the most important part in all of this.

You look great! These soft colors are really lovely on you.

I'm 5'9" with proportionally shorter legs, which means I run into the too-short length/sleeves issue on tops a lot. It's one of the reasons I wear a cuff bracelet so often. It fills in the gap and gives my scrunched sleeves a purpose. I'll also sometimes wear cotton tanks or cams under a top to help with the length issue.

If I had my choice, every item in my wardrobe would be perfect and I'd never have to make compromises, but the hunt for perfection comes with its own problems, so sometimes it's enough to say, "I enjoy wearing this item in this way," so long as those accommodations to imperfection don't start eating into your comfort and happiness.

I love this shirt, except that it's a little bit short and the bracelet-length sleeves really bug me. [Does anyone else have wardrobe items like that? With excepts? What do you do?] I "solved" the second problem here by scrunching the sleeves. (It doesn't tolerate very much scrunching, but it's working OK so far this morning). And the first was somewhat lessened by wearing a belt. Anyway, the patterning and overlapping pieces always remind me a bit of tattoos, so it somehow feels both pretty and tough. (And I don't think I've ever met a paisley I didn't love.)

It felt like everything came together perfectly on this one. The shirt background matches the boots, the rose stitching on the boots matches the shirt, and I got to wear never-worn lace-and-cables (with beads!) socks. I know the stitching on the boots and the socks don't show when it's worn this way, but still. These details add to my happiness with this outfit. Which was high. :)

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?

Worn here with:
Vigoss bootcuts
brown Justin belt
Nocono boots
handknit beaded socks
lafont specs
