WOW. So much snow. I'm not allowed to complain about our hectic rain.

I really like the jeans with the booties and the cardi.

Yes, I enjoy it but I'm not being a romantic daydreamer. If we don't get some white stuff on the ground my winter vacation rental receipts will suffer!! Pure pragmatic mercantilism...

Yes, the v neck sweater is a color called "cool pink". I like it. It's not quite lavender, and not quite pink either. It's somewhere in between.

I have yet to find the right pair of white/off white booties, so these seem to work. I love that they are weatherproof so I can make it through all the slushy puddles in parking lots!

E, I do agree with you that there is a beautiful, almost haunting quality to the light on an overcast snowy day. I particularly like the way snow on trees look when it's overcast. I'm not in the city so I can't comment on the buildings, but the roofs of all the houses around here have that same quality.

Great choice on a gloomy day. Soft pinks and winter white are lovely on you and it's nice to see white jeans on a wintry day.

Wow, your place really got dumped on, didn't it?! I'm thinking about what E wrote because I share your dislike of sunless days. And we have SO MANY of them where I am. Maybe I can develop a bit of appreciation for them, like E has.

I love winter white and I adore this outfit on you. Is the "lower" sweater a bit pink? These matchsticks fit you perfectly, and I'm with everyone else on the booties. I always find it so hard to find the right shoes for white bottoms.

I like the effect too; we get to see more of that pretty pink colour! I prefer overcast days to sunny ones, and I especially love the soft white glow of a snowily overcast sky, unless I want to take pics during the golden hour, but that might be because I've just spent almost 4 years in south Texas with a superfluity of sun. Hehe It's a refreshing change to not need sunglasses every time I go outside! I studied abroad in St. Petersburg, and I felt the overcast days let all of the coloured buildings shine (it's an architecturally beautiful city w many rococo palaces in macaron colours). I feel the same way here; I notice the colours of the houses in my neighbourhood (most date to the 20s or 30s) more against a cloudy backdrop. Landscape photography is much more difficult though. And I like the way the snow sparkles on sunny days too.

E, here is the un-bottoned pic. I just didn't bother to add it earlier. It isn't the greatest pic. My sweater is hiked up in a funny way so I don't like it very much. I still like the effect though and had it like this for part of the day.

Sadly, we are still responsible to fix the mailbox even if the plow knocks it over. Makes no sense but that's how it goes. We have had to do it once before. It's an aggravation, especially in the winter when the ground is frozen.

I should add that I do like snow. I like to look at it and I think it's pretty, but I prefer days when the sun is out and the sky is blue, even with snow on the ground. It's so much nicer than when it is gray.

So funny that you see gloom where I see wintry magic. Although I'd have been sad to lose a tree and it seems odd that the plow driver doesn't have to replace your mailbox! Living in an apartment building and not driving insulate me from the annoying aspects of snow, although I've noticed sidewalks aren't plowed nearly as quickly as roads and tend to have giant drifts to navigate at the end of each block!

Anyway, I love the texture on your cardi and the light feel of the outfit. Have you tried wearing it unbuttoned so it swings? Might add a fun touch of movement to the look.

Gorgeous snow and a gorgeous area you live in! I know it's tough to deal with - but you have to admit it's very pretty White is a good way to dress against the gloom - and it looks very pretty on you! Nice boots too! Suz and I have been on the same hunt for a taupe-ish boot this fall - to no success.

The booties are Aquatalia. The color I believe is stone. I bought them on sale from Nordstrom.
Yes, the official total for the Nor'easter where I live was 18.5 inches, but I live at the top of a hill, and we clearly had closer to 22 inches, maybe slightly more. Just east of me is where they had the highest snowfall. (Aren't we lucky!)

So much snow and cold! I decided winter white was the way to keep things bright in all the gloom. I doubled my sweaters, and had a layering tee as well. Temps in the low 20's F, with windchill well below that.

Equipment cashmere v neck pullover, Equipment cashmere cardigan, JCrew Toothpick Jeans.

We lost a tree because the snow was so heavy. Our mailbox was taken out by the plow. The little dark dot at the end of the driveway is our mailbox. We will have to fix it when the snow melts a bit. You can get some sense of how deep it is and how heavy from the way it sits on the branches of the trees.
