The proportions and colors are totally fine. This is a great way to style a denim jacket, as AG mentioned, a scarf or longer necklace would add interest but may compete with the earrings. I would try different bottoms too. I like your idea of a white button front shirt with this. My favorites are sand colored casual slacks, and colorful t shirts. When I wear blue jeans I pair them with casual jackets of other colors.
