I've always felt a little embarrassed about being such a classic dresser. It always felt a little lacking in imagination. (Angie's post on being a modern classic was spot on for me. Why not be just as proud of being a modern classic dresser as any other style?) It doesn't help that I'm in what sometimes feels like the epicenter of funky/cool hipster wonderfulness and I like and appreciate hipster looks! This just reminds me that I can be very true to what feels fabulous and natural to me and that it is just as valid. I can still stretch to incorporate funky, fun elements. </p> <p>@CClaire, very interesting points. The funny thing is that most of the pieces I'm wearing were pretty reasonable and all get lots of wear. The jacket is one I posted earlier. I bought it at Nordstrom for full price, but it was only $88. I'm pretty sure it will be on sale for $50 in another week or two. Right now, I'm planning to wear it to threads. The cowl tank was $19 at Nordstrom last autumn. The skirt was an AT Loft bargain, under $30, I think. The shoes were full price, but they were around the price of Nine West or Franco Sarto. The two expensive items were the pearls (that's a "last a lifetime" item, though) and the purse. Ooooh, the purse. How I love that purse! I have no justification other than CPW, which has turned the purse into a very good investment. So really, a touch of designer, but really more spot-on basics. (BTW, have to tell you, I love the name Claire. I named my DD Claire. So beautiful. I don't think there is a lovelier name to write.) As for you saying anything of yours is drab or ill-fitting, no way. You always look amazing!
