<p>Thank you Diane, Deb, and Eliza!</p>
<p>RachyLou, I love Scandinavian aesthetics too, although I'm not visually steeped it in the way I am the&nbsp;English ones, if that makes sense,&nbsp;so it's interesting you would say that. It doesn't look as farm girl-y, does it? Hmm. Good to know the loose end of the belt doesn't look bad; it didn't bother me at all feel wise, but in the photos I thought it looked a bit sloppy.

<p>Hey, looking kind of more Swedish than English here This is really great and outside the box. I don't know how annoying the belt end is, but looks-wise, it's cool loose.</p>

<p>Suz, I'm so used to longer sleeve lengths like this that the few sweaters I have that end at the correct spot feel skimpy. hehe

<p><div>Sarah, thank you! All of the other walkers were in gear, but I don't walk quickly enough to need any wicking. I'll have to try the ponytail band trick! And I'm glad I inspired you: I hope your cardigan gets out more now!</div><div><br /></div><div>Isabel, thnx! I'm glad the fuss was worth it. ;)</div><div><br /></div><div>MG, you're right: the pleating is my favourite part of the dress!&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Ceit!</div><div><br /></div><div>Aquamarine, you're too kind!</div><div><br /></div><div>Aubergine, thnx: these tights are at least 5 years old, and I'm going to be so sad when they finally die.&nbsp;</div><div><br /></div><div>Shevia, thank you! I love these boots. :D</div><div><br /></div><div>Gracie, ohhh: that's a good idea! &nbsp;I'll have to try it.</div><div><br /></div><div>Alexandra, I prefer woven belts for just that reason! I think I started overlooking fit issues because it's almost impossible for me to find clothes that fit perfectly off the rack. Of course, when thrifting , I can't just go down a size! So I got used to lowering my standards, which is dangerous of course. Now I've told myself firmly no more buying clothes that don't fit. And hopefully starting to sew this year will make me pickier as well.</div>

<p>This is a very lovely outfit! I like that the belt is woven - you can buckle in anywhere, no being a slave to any specific holes.<br />
It's interesting that you overlook fit issues when shopping. I do the opposite - scrutinize the fit front front, back, and side to no end. That's why I sew, it's just too hard to find RTW that satisfies my fit requirements.

<p>Lovely colors, very flattering on you. I suggest a white twist tie for the belt. With the belt being woven, it will be easy to secure it in place and not be noticeable - this has worked well for me. For solid leather belts, I use heavy duty double- stick tape.

<p>I love how you have styled this in #2 (i use a ponytail band in the same color of the belt to tame those occasional too long ends). The gray dress pleating at the neckline is such a nice detail. I am sure you are dressed well above and beyond most walkers out and about!</p>
<p>OT: You have totally inspired me to wrap and stitch into place a cardigan that has sat unloved in my closet for years wth your that you pinned with a decorative pin a month back.

<p>Yesterday, &nbsp;I watched a documentary about ballet, so of course today I wanted to be a ballerina. Shiny mentioned French blue the other day, which reminded me of this silk blue cardigan I have. It's too big to wear normally (I thrifted it anyway, enchanted by the colour and fabric and little details; a major shopping weakness of mine is&nbsp;overlooking fit issues), but that didn't matter since ballerinas wrap their sweaters anyway! Wrapping seems to work best with a dress, and inspired by&nbsp;Marie Laurencin's chakly pastel&nbsp;colour palette, I opted for grey with touches of soft&nbsp;white. The belt is from my sister's closet clean out: I was excited since I realised after being on the forum that a white belt would be handy. This one is really pretty, but looking at the pictures, I realise I'm going to have to figure out what to do about the end sticking out.&nbsp;As the neckline is fairly low, I took the opportunity to wear a necklace (gold to match the belt), added my gold rings, and since you could see my ears, my little gold posts.&nbsp;The outfit&nbsp;seemed a bit staid, so I added polka dot tights and bow in my hair (put up a la a dancer's, although it's obviously too short for a bun). For my walk I stayed simple&nbsp;and wore my grey ankle boots to match.</p>
<p>Happiness factor was good but not great: it took some fussing to get the cardigan to wrap, although luckily the belt held it in place quite well. And I really wish the dress had a fuller skirt (which is part of why it's a placeholder until the perfect grey dress comes along!). I felt a bit self conscious that the cardigan is too big; I think I'm going to try adding princess seams to take it in (if I just take it in at the side seams, a lot of the cute details will disappear).&nbsp;But I loved the colours and general shape, and the silk felt fabulous, and I felt fine greeting my neighbours during my walk. So maybe a 7 out of 10?</p>
<p>Pictures were rushed as my camera's battery light was blinking red and angry. Luckily it held, as I'm trying to get back into the habit of taking daily or near-daily photos!</p>
<p>Comments &amp; suggestions always welcome!
</p>
<p>ETA: I just realised the white&nbsp;velvet ribbon I tied around my ponytail must have blown off during my walk. Eek! I'll have to be more careful in future.</p>
