<p>E, ive missed a lot on the forum lately and am so glad this look of yours has been bumped. The unbuttoned version is my fave. The blouse is amazing! The flowing pleat detail on the front is so romantic without being over the top. Robins egg blue is one of my favorite colors and i have been longing to replace i robins egg top that was eaten by moths in storage many moons ago. Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy vicariously

<p>Thank you Suz! And soon I'm going to need to have a grey trouser death match so the forum can help me figure out which ones to keep and which ones to let go! (Between the new linen pair from last month &amp; a new pair I found this month, things have gotten a bit out of control.)</p>
<p>Thnx so much TG! That means a lot.

<p><div>Thnx MG! Isn't it irresistable?</div><div><br /></div><div>RachyLou, thank you!</div><div><br /></div><div>Alasse, isn't the opal interesting? I think it benefits greatly from having the regular rock as contrast!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thanks Amiable &amp; Thistle!</div><div><br /></div><div>Gryffin, thank you. I don't have any embellished headbands, but if I grow my hair a bit longer &amp; start doing updos regularly, I'll definitely look into them! I don't care for wearing headbands with bobs as it's a bit preppy for my taste, but in updos and with a pixie I enjoy them. Right now I've got some embellished bobby pins on my wish list, since I pin my hair pretty much every day (double cowlick=no real bangs for me)!</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Ornella! Period dramas are one of my de-stressers too.&nbsp;</div>

<p>I am so glad this thread had resurfaced as I kept in at the back of my mind to come back to. What a beautiful inspiration(s) and actually if I had seen&nbsp;the bookcover in the shop and had been asked to say who it reminds me of, I'd say You. The greyish-blue, the whimsical font, delicate use of&nbsp;black, just lovely. Your hair here is so beautiful and since I've been on the periods dramas kick past few weeks (my de-stress technique) I can <i>see</i> you at the ball in "Sense and Sensibility"...

<p>E - I love this outfit, so pretty.&nbsp; Your hair looks absolutely beautiful up.&nbsp; It's so charming...but so pretty down too...so hard to decide.&nbsp; I love&nbsp;the updo&nbsp;with the headband.&nbsp; But you really need an embellished headband!!&nbsp; You are one of the few people who have the romantic style and delicate feature who could really pull it off!!&nbsp; I am seeing you in something like the one below.&nbsp; Just a thought!!&nbsp; The blouse if lovely - the color so soft and pretty and beautiful with your hair.&nbsp; Just such a romantic lovely look and a perfect match with the book covers!!&nbsp; Glad your feet are improving and hope you will be able to get back to your walks soon!!

<p><div>Thanks MG! The one thing I miss about longer hair (vs bobs) are the up-dos. Andh ow could I forget all of your fabulous hair accessories/up-dos as an inspiration too? Whoops! I don't have a voluminous cardi (I know! lol), but I tried it with this one unbuttoned. The back of the blouse is longer in the middle than the sides, like the front, so if I wear a regular length cardi it looks weird.</div><div><br /></div><div>LL, my home decor is all about lightness: blonde wood, white/light grey, and then my blue-green walls, with teal accents. So definitely reflective of my wardrobe! Thanks for the compliments &amp; the cardigan feedback.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Sveta! I'll try to repeat it before I go in for a hair cut. hehe I freed the blouse &amp; added a pic; I think it does work better.</div><div><br /></div><div>Aubergine, those are actually 2 different covers! (The one I'm holding &amp; the first one.) Surprisingly similar, right? I love my ereader too but still read a lot of paper books. Current covers tend to be very much to my style, but some of the older books I read have cringe-inducing covers. hehe You know, I roll my trousers so much I don't even think about it: these were already rolled when I pulled them on &amp; I just left them that way. I'll have to remember to unroll in the future &amp; see which way looks better! The trousers aren't as fitted as skinny jeans. I think I needed a belt to cinch things up if I button the cardigan, to add that bit of structure the outfit's missing right now. But maybe I'm wrong!</p>
<p>Thnx Claudia! Oh I miss the Academichic blog; I'd forgotten about the book cover posts though. That would be a fun forum challenge, wouldn't it? Maybe when April's is over!</div>

<p>You are all&nbsp;so clever! I buttoned the cardi to get a kind of peplum effect, but I think it needed to be more fitted to make the shirt blouse out more underneath. I just got out of the shower (a late start I know), so I threw the outfit back on with the cardi unbuttoned. Just a quick macbook shot on my balcony, so forgive the wet hair/blurriness/skewed necklace (photos via self timer are tricky!). Better?</p>

<p>That blouse is such a beautiful color! And the book cover is lovely -- I can see why that inspired you.&nbsp;I have&nbsp;an e-reader, which I really like, but it does make me realize I miss seeing the cover when I read something.</p>
<p>The cropped cardigan worn closed over the blouse is really striking-looking in terms of proportions, but I almost want to see it with something more fitted on the bottom. Or, actually, I looked again and realized&nbsp;the pants do look sort of fitted, but the rolls on the bottom were throwing me. So I'm not quite sure what my point is here --just kind of rambling.

<p>These pastel colors are so lovely on you! I also agree that your hair is daling like this - maybe you should repeat? :-)<br />The "crazy" volume of the blouse may just work with the current fluid and oversized fit - I also would love to see it "free".<br />And I totally can see how the light grey is the perfect color here for the bottoms - it does not overpower the light pastels like the darker colors may.

<p>How lovely that you were inspired by the colors of a book cover to create an outfit based around it! I've often noticed that I have the same style and color choices going on in my home decor (and some of my art)&nbsp;as my wardrobe (a lot of oranges/earth tones, reds&nbsp;and warm browns).</p>
<p>The colors are very flattering on you and I think they go really well&nbsp;together...and the neckline of the blouse does a fabulous job of highlighting the necklace. I don't think the whole outfit is too slouchy looking, and agree it has a nice fluid drape.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I think the only thing I'm on the fence about is the buttoned cardigan. I'm not sure I care for it covering the draped detail on the front of the blouse. I might have opted to leave the cardigan unbuttoned to see if that created more continuity in flow from head to toe.

<p>The last two novels I've read (<i>The Girl with Glass Feet</i> and <i>The Briefcase</i>, the latter of which I loved) both had beautiful covers featuring a light blue-green with white and black accents. They made me think of this robin egg blue silk blouse I came across last year, whose colour and quality (all of the seams are French! and the silk has a wonderful hand &amp; pearly sheen to it) made be bring it home, despite the somewhat low v neckline and crazy drapiness. So I started with that. The weather forecasted a high of 78/25, so I knew I should keep the rest of the outfit in cooler fabrics. </p>
<p>My sister recently gave me this cotton cardigan, as she was cleaning out her closet, and I'd been complaining about my lack of a white one. It's not perfect for me (I prefer full sleeves &amp; &nbsp;a slightly more fitted waist), but it makes a good placeholder (cropped, crewneck, not bright/optic white)&nbsp;until I get lucky while thrifting! The colour is almost tea stained white in person. As the covers both felt light and airy, I decided it would be the perfect topper, especially since the drapes of the blouse look funny with a longer cardigan. For trousers, first I put on my charcoal grey pair, to bring in the black of the covers,&nbsp;but somehow they overpowered the entire look. I then tried a medium grey pair, but they too didn't feel quite right. So finally I ended up in these, a quite light grey, and relied on my necklace and headband to bring in touches of darkness.</p>
<p>The necklace is actually opal, which my dad brought back from a trip to Australia. I don't care for traditional opals (my mother's favourite stone), but this one, kept in its rockier setting, fascinates me! My hair is getting longer (not from an intention to grow it out, just from not getting over to the hair salon), and I realised it was just long enough to do a Gibson tuck. I love Alasse's romantic updos, so I couldn't resist giving it a go!</p>
<p>I think this whole outfit looked better in person than in photographs, although I'm not sure why. In person, it looked more fluid than slouchy &amp; felt just right for an overcast but warm winter day (really, we're entering spring down here, but I'm in denial). In the photos it just looks a bit awkward!&nbsp;Looking at it,&nbsp;I think a dark&nbsp;belt (my navy velvet perhaps?)&nbsp;right at&nbsp;the cardigan's hem&nbsp;would have brought this outfit together/tidied it up in photos&nbsp;&amp; made it 'match' the covers a bit more.&nbsp;Oh well, can't win them all. Later yesterday, I tinkered with the blouse&nbsp;a bit and made the neckline a bit higher &amp; more square, which should make it a bit easier to wear. So I look forward to remixing it, perhaps with a skirt next time.&nbsp;</p>
<p>My feet are improving so I should be back to taking walks soon! Thank goodness, although at least I have a lovely view out of my windows, so I'm enjoying all of the birds that suddenly arrived last week. They know it's spring, even if I'm still pretending its winter!
</p>
<p>As always, comments, suggestions, critiques, etc. welcome. :)</p>
<p>ETA: I added a quick photo of the outfit w/ the cardigan unbuttoned at the bottom thanks to your suggestions! I've added it up here too: does it work better?</p>
