Cute outfit. I am never quite sure about vests but I think this style shirt would bunch if you buttoned the vest. You do a really good job of winter hot weather dressing. I would be totally stumped in that situation.

I'm a big lover of vests -- I think they "reign in" looser items at add a touch of structure. I'd wear this again in a heartbeat.

The burgundy skinnies are so rich in tone and so flattering. I agree with Rachy about the shoes. And I adore the top! I also really, really like the vest on you. I do see what the others are saying about the shape - maybe button to see how it looks? but that might not have been comfortable for the weather you were having.

I would like to see the vest buttoned, but I like it as is as well. The top is a nice weight and the texture of the vest is wonderful with this. I can't believe you can wear your baby bracelet! Mine is so miniscule I think I might be able to wear it as a ring!

This is an excellent look. Also, fine cotton tops like this one are just the bee knees too me. Also, I have to mention the oxfords - they are just the right "bulk" for this outfit. Not clunky, not diminutive.

I love all these colors, the vest is gorgeous! I'd like to see it pulled in towards the front center some (or maybe it won't stay that way), or closed if it's not tight. I can barely see in on #4, it looks like two vertical swaths of fabric. I'll be looking for other ways you will style this vest, as I have a few that also are not getting worn often. You have a great eye for proportions.

My goodness, this is full on Lyra! And yet on you, not at all costume-y. I love it.
(I too have a menswear vest that never gets worn, hmmmm.....)

Sunday I spent the day resting/recovering, as Saturday night was my sister's bachelorette party. Even though I didn't drink much, we all ran around downtown until 2 am and then spent another hour in the hotel room talking!

As such, I reached for a comfort shirt: this light weave polka dot top always makes me smile. I usually wear it with skirts, because it's very long, or shorts in the height of summer, but on Sunday I wanted to wear trousers. To make the light colours more seasonally appropriate, I paired it with my burgundy skinnies. But the length of the shirt emphasised my long torso, so I wanted to somehow visually cut a line. It was too warm for a cardigan or jacket, and I didn't feel like a belt, but then I remembered this vest. It's grey with burgundy pinstripes, a knit so quite comfy, and doesn't add much heat. That seemed like a lot of detail going on up top, so I didn't add a brooch, and instead just put on my mother's garnet ring to pick up the burgundy in the skinnies (she gave it to me two Christmases ago because she never wears it and I've admired it since I was a child) and my gold bracelet (actually my name/id bracelet from when I was a baby) to match. For walking, I added my grey oxfords to stick with the menswear theme & echo the grey in the vest.

I thrifted it, and another vest, last year thinking they'd be the perfect solution to hot weather dressing, as they'd add interest without a lot of warmth. But then I figured out a different hot weather formula, and the vests rather fell by the wayside. I'm not completely sure that vests are flattering on me, and whether I should close them or leave them open (in this case I left it open because skinnies are so fitted I usually waist surrender to balance things out), and whether they end up looking too costume-y. What do you all think?

As always, all suggestions and comments are welcome!
