I tried wearing my skinnies with a longish top the other day and ended up changing. I felt like my pants looked too snug but they fit just like yours and yours look fine. I think I'm so used to wearing volume over skinny or bf style jeans that my eye is not used to looking at fitted bottoms. So to answer your question, I think the proportions are fine but it looks less modern to my eye than a more voluminous top. It is flattering in a traditional way, IMHO. LOVE the new coat.
