I love everything here - the fact you can resume posting WIWs, the fact you've adapted your wardrobe to your needs so well, the gorgeous items you've found and your (attitude about your) age. Many happy returns! #1 - Easy. Pretty. Belt completely unnecessary. Please don't limit yourself to not going out sleeveless. #2/3 - Agee, you do need this one. Beautiful. You can tell from the photos how soft it is. It looks great on you. #4 - I think we're all starved of skirts with some length. Great pick. As for styling, I think modern, structured top (or anything that doesn't completely hide the figure but gives some waist definition) will move you out of the matronly zone. The jacket in 2/3 will do the trick too. And by all means do try boots and booties with it.  #5/6 - "Sweet" is too juvenile term for what this looks like on you, so I get why you contemplated leaving the top. I would rather say - lovely. It's a beautiful top that will undoubtedly serve the purpose you bought it for. It's ultra-feminine, but the coluor is enough not to mistake it for sugary, airy-fairy item. I think the SA who said the illusion top was sweet did not have a good command of style language.  It looks more ladylike and elegant than sweet.  Although if she was young, she might have been using sweet like people use cool. As for the jacket--I've never had a leather jacket fit so well, and come to think of it, never had any jacket fit so well.  I've been looking for a jacket in a color for a couple of years now and have not found anything--I didn't expect to find it in leather.   Deborah--I did get a VC skirt in heather gray stripe.  It is about 2" shorter than the Nic + Zoe and tapered, but it is a bit clingy compared to the BR.  I'll be having lunch at the Cliff House in SF in a couple of days and plan on wearing it then.  Not sure what will go on top--it depends on the weather.   Still haven't added up the damages from NAS.  So far I only have one item to return.  I'll post more on that tomorrow. You join Angie's client Karen as one of the most stylish septuagenarians out there!  MsMaven on "WIW + impulse NAS buys" https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/topic/wiw-impulse-nas-buys#post-989609 Wed, 24 Jul 2013 23:35:33 +0000 MsMaven 989609@https://youlookfab.com/welookfab/ I think it's been well over a year since I did a WiW.  Here I've come back from the hairdresser and Pet Club--92° out.  There was a time when I wouldn't wear black and white--too high contrast for me, and wouldn't wear horizontal stripes around the lower body.  Since my abdominal injury I can't stand tight things around my middle and I've gained weight on that same middle.  Well, change or die.   #1 Today: Banana Republic knit skirt and a Bobeau top.  Odette at Nordstrom Valley Fair (love her enthusiasm) insisted I buy a wide belt with a big brass buckle to put low over the top--right over my tummy.  And that was long before the injury.  I returned the belt.  Normally I'd wear a necklace or pendant with this neckline, and I wouldn't wear sleeveless in public, but since I was going to the hairdresser, I didn't bother.  And it's hot outside. #2-3 I had one hour last Monday to shop NAS in person.  Wandered around, didn't see too much until I spotted this Lafayette jacket. The leather is incredibly soft and lovely and although I don't "need" another jacket, I need this one.  It is snug across the belly, but this will be even greater motivation for me to return to my regular size. #4 I saw the Nik + Zoe skirt on Une Femme's NAS picks and loved it.  It is a soft rayon knit, lined, and doesn't squeeze.  No hem, so if it is too long, I'd have to have it taken up from the waist and that would hurt the proportions.  After years of nearly all skirts and dresses being too short, it is great this year to find some length.  I've read that this often comes across as matronly.  I would wear it with boots or booties, and as Mom used to say about herself, "I'm no spring chicken." I wish the texture showed better but you can see it on the website photo. #5 I spotted this Elie Tahari stretch silk top and immediately thought of those dinners out when you need something dressy but not fussy.  Illusion sleeves--I'm graduating into Mature territory--my first venture into sheer illusion fabric.  The shoulder has kind of a knotted gather--not ruffly.   So when I went to check out the sales associate said it was "sweet."  I almost put it back but I love it and decided to get your opinion.  Is this too, too sugary?  I will be an old lady but I'd rather be a tough old dame than "sweet." Okay, if you've read this far, I'll tell you a secret.  I am three-score and 11 years old.  See, when I grew up "ladies" didn't tell their age.  Urp.
