But it works without a belt, too; it does have a slight nip to the waist. It actually looks better with skirts (is a bit short for pants, but that's what I had with me on my travel capsule when I got it). I had EXACTLY your thought - that it would look great with a chambray shirt! Must get a chambray shirt. </p> <p>I also plan to wear it with Krish's black jeans, my thrifted black suede pencil skirt, and my black gored skirt, as well as my black shift dress. Um...do you remember what I said about black creeping back into my wardrobe? But the wonderful thing about this jacket is that the white is a winter white, a colour that truly works for me, so it sort of counteracts the black. She found it, but it came as part of a suit that the store's proprietor wouldn't sell as separates. Beautiful Italian wool. The skirt fit her perfectly but the jacket was too big for her. She bought the suit anyway, figuring that she would alter the jacket. </p> <p>We got home and opened up our parcels. On a lark, she suggested that I try the jacket on. </p> <p>I did. </p> <p>It fit. </p> <p>YLF friends, she GAVE it to me!!! </p> <p>I wore it that night to the pantomime. My friend wore one of her new purchases, too. We were definitely two of the most stylish ladies in the place. Our kids just rolled their eyes at us. </p> <p>So here I am, in my 2012 version of my 1989 best-ever remembered outfit. First, what I actually wore to the panto: Gap Really Skinny pants and black booties. Next, with jeans and boots. </p> <p>Do you know what is super exciting? This look STILL feels EXACTLY right to me. Even down to the little shoulder pads. Hope they're not OTT!! </p>
