I started this job 12 months ago and am in an office with 2 others. My male colleague has a tendancy to be loud, angry and uses bad language a great deal. This has made it a bit difficult to connect and engage him. Long story short, he has been making quite an effort of late and I have been doing my best to take a moment to chat and develop some semblance of a working relationship... well just now in the kitchen, he told me he thought I looked very nice today and really liked what I am wearing!! In my current job I co-ordinate a couple of local community programs and spend a greal deal of my time managing volunteers and co-ordinating with the organisations we offer services to. I work with a lot of people that fit the community worker stereo type (here in Australia at least), who are very 'organic', and hippy like. I see a lot of what i call Hippy Boho Chic, but without the chic??? Trying to funny here, not unkind! They are awesome people, but I am always very 'uniquely' dressed in comparison to my colleagues when we meet for our monthly meetings.
