<p>Jeanie, I ordered the boots in September, when there was no wait; I hadn’t realised what a difference a couple months would make! I was just excited, lol. I do feel lucky now. Thistle is definitely enjoying the snow more (although when it’s fresh fallen &amp; taller than her I have to carry her, as she can’t make much headway), which is a relief!<div><br /></div><div>Beth Ann, I’m glad I’m not the only instinctive remixer. And I’m glad you’re enjoying my coats! They were overkill in Texas, but I refused to get rid of them, even though they’re big &amp; take up a lot of space. I knew I’d be moving north again eventually! hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Karie! As I said to Suz, I’m pretty sure I only want to wear my skinnies slouchier from now on. So much more comfortable. Now I just need to convince the more body con ones to slouch, hehe.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Viva! I love the phrase ‘winsome Victorian.’ :D</div>

<p>Such a great outfit on you - perfectly romantic collar paired with modern corduroy slouchy skinnies (that's how I wear my skinnies too). I am also trying to repeat more outfits, and it works out to be about a twice per month wear of some of my favorites.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I love grumpy snowman!&nbsp;

<p>Thank you Laura. I cannot resist matching my socks to my top whenever possible. hehe I didn’t build the snowman, just met him on my walk! I did wear the 4/5 outfit to tromp through the snowy fields &amp; woods though.<div><br /></div><div>Thnx Suz! I’m so glad you think this has a bit of a 19th century feel to it. And let me tell you, these skinnies are so comfy that I’m becoming a convert to your way of thinking. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Angie!</div><div><br /></div><div>MG, yes I bought this in 2008, before I had a firm grasp of what colours flattered me. I knew grey usually looked good, but this is a warmer grey, so probably not the best. Good idea to combine it w flattering scarves &amp; flouncing always helps. hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Caro. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Alasse, I can see you wearing a cameo brooch yourself!</div><div><br /></div><div>Frannie, isn’t the snowman funny? I wonder if the grumpiness was deliberate or if it was made by younger kids who didn’t quite see the effect. hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Tulle! I knit these mittens last month (based on an Elizabeth Zimmerman pattern for Norwegian mittens) &amp; they are magically warm for sure. I suppose it makes sense that Norwegians would have the winter thing down by now. hehe</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx Thimblelina!</div><div><br /></div><div>Amy, I’m glad I’m not the only one w repeating issues. I wonder where that comes from. :)</div><div><br /></div><div>Aubergine, yep I wore this sweater last year, so you have a good memory! Lol @ your sympathies with the snowman. I’m the obnoxious person prattling on about how brisk and fresh walks are when it’s below freezing, while people who have lived here for years look at me while I’m insane.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you Firecracker! I was so excited to see Bean boots in this colour, as their usual cognac is too orangey for my wardrobe. It’s interesting that people seem to naturally either remix or repeat exactly most of the time; I wonder what causes the differences.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thnx JenniferAnne! The collar was quite easy. The elbow patches were trickier, because of sewing through only one layer halfway up a sleeve, but it still didn’t take too long.</div><div><br /></div><div>I’m a fiend for these shades of blue Rachy. I don’t think Thistle’s ever been called a wolf before, but she likes it! lol</div><div><br /></div><div>TG, isn’t it great? I hope I come across more snowmen after the next big snowfall!</div>

<p>Wow--super fabulous outfit on you, Eva. I love these shades, the soft fabrics, and your feminine touches. You wear those Bean boots like nobody's business. I love the color, and they suit this outfit to a T. Speaking of T, Thistle is one cute little snow pup! I enjoyed your other walk photos, too. </p>
<p>Oh, and I'm with you--even when I really like an outfit, I tend to want to change it up just a little bit the next time. I have a hard time wearing the exact same outfit again. </p>

<p>I'm an instinctive remixer; even outfits that I really love I almost never repeat. I don't know why (well, other than my extensive clothing collection, whose numbers mean I rotate frequently to eventually wear everything), but it's struck me as increasingly silly not to repeat my 'star' ensembles. So I've been consciously trying to repeat on occasion; this is the 3rd time I've worn this combination since October (I know the regular repeaters are laughing at the idea of a once monthly repeat as impressive)! And each time I've very much enjoyed it. (The outerwear has changed along with the weather.)</p>
<p>It's a very easy outfit: navy blue cords (they're not quite as dark as these photos are showing) that are loose enough to be comfy, although they're obviously still skinnies, and a cashmere pullover that I altered last year (adding collars &amp; elbow patches)&nbsp;to make more flattering on me. I've realised I really like statement sweaters in the fall &amp; winter, as they do the styling&nbsp;for me! I'm also a big fan of corduroy, along with every other soft fabric out there. I seem to be reaching less frequently for my skinnies in general lately, except for the corduroy ones (I also have a grey pair), that are still happily in full use.&nbsp;I'll admit I've probably changed up the brooches, but at least I'm repeating the main pieces.</p>
<p>For my walk, I wanted a longer coat to keep my bum &amp; thighs warm (since cotton skinnies aren't that insulating, even when they are corduroy), but the cashmere pullover &amp; wool accessories I added&nbsp;let me slouch around with the coat open and be comfortable until the very end of my walk, after sunset, when it got much chillier. I'm beginning to think this is the least flattering of my wool coats, but I'm not willing to let it go just yet. The shorter sleeves are proving oddly practical with mittens, as they make it easy to pull the mittens on &amp; off without trying to stuff mitten cuff under coat sleeve. Thoughts on the coat?</p>
<p>Oh! I almost forgot; I think this is the first time I've shown my Bean Boots on the forum. I bought them right after my move (in September), as I was thrilled to see them available in a solid navy-ish colour, and could justify the purchase in my new climate. They've been very helpful in the rainy days &amp; have since proved their worth in the snow; these are the thinsulate version &amp; they've kept me toasty even when I'm sunk fairly deep. Good traction too; I have no problems going up or down the fairly steep hills I need to navigate to get into the woods (glacier country). They came with orange laces though, which I didn't like. Until I find navy boot laces (I plan to go to my local cobbler when I go back to Texas over the holidays), I've been using these laces that I bought on a whim when I was in Mexico City a couple of years ago and never used. At first I felt a bit silly in sparkly laces, but they've grown on me, even if they're a bit too short. Anyway, apparently there's a big waiting list for Bean Boots at the moment, but if you're already planning footwear purchases for next year, my fussy feet fully endorse these (I did have to break them in, but it only took 3-4 walks of doubled socks before they were good).</p>
<p>I included some photos I took from my walk that day, for the forum members who like snowy pics. One of the steep hill I mentioned&nbsp;&amp; Thistle, who has become quite a snow pup lately, one of the hilariously grumpy snowman someone made, and one of this snug little house I walked past that seemed perfectly Christmas-like, with the candles glowing in each window.</p>
<p>All feedback, criticism, suggestions, etc. welcome as always!
