Thanks, everyone!

I have been thinking about this a bit more, and I think the replies on my other thread have made me realize that I may be confusing classic with expected/mainstream a little bit here. Someone said on my other thread that this outfit (as opposed to the one with the green vest) looked like it could be put together by someone else whereas the other one could only be put together by me. And it is true that I do value uniqueness and creativity a lot in my outfits, but it's also true that I don't have to make every single outfit be the pinnacle of uniqueness. So with that, I think I do like this outfit and I feel pretty good in it. It's maybe not my favorite outfit ever but it is certainly flattering, comfortable, and yes, interesting enough to still be recognizably me.

Angie, I'm glad you mentioned the tucking and the belt! So I rarely tuck into skinnies, and only did so at the last minute today because I thought the length of the top was weird with the rise of the pants. I think it works because the belt is big and wide.

Laura, I totally get it about the inherent preppy factor of tipped jackets. This was the only colorway of the tipped Academy blazer that I could see working for me. The others (if I remember there was black/white, grey/black, navy/black, and I think tomato red/white?) were all so preppy in color I couldn't see past that.

I think it looks fab as it is, a fun change from your usual style. Maybe a handknit scarf would add some eclectic vibes back into it?

Objectively a fab outfit! I think we end to consider these elements separately. Do you think you could adjust to feeling killer in this because it looks good?

This looks great! I envy the way the jacket fits you. I have the same one in navy/black - on me, the sleeves are too long and the body looks shorter.

I think you look fantastic - but then, I would, wouldn't I?

(I also want to come and steal those boots! Where have those been lurking? Grey patent knee high boots?? GAH!!!)

In all seriousness, I can see why it feels too classic for you. Oddly enough, it might even feel that way for me. Not classic so much as a touch preppy. The combination of the (apparent) Henley plus the tipping on the Academy blazer, plus the equestrian vibe to the tucked skinnies -- this is what makes it seem a very preppy outfit.

Yet I still love it on you.

I love this look, and while it is classic I think the citron tipping keeps it from being too classic. PS I want that jacket. Really really badly.

It is a more classic look for you, but it does look fab! The citron brings a little bit of the personality through, but I bet you'd like it better with the flowy blouse like you originally planned.

I love this fabulous look. How fun to see you sport the ensemble formula.

To my eye, the tucked top with the belt makes the look. It's far less pedestrian with skinnies tucked into boots. Well done.

I bought a tipped blazer when they first came back, and found that I didn't wear it as much as I thought because it felt so ultra preppy that I needed to balance out the rest of my outfit with it and I found that hard to do. So I know what you're talking about. But, iirc, my blazer was gray with black tipping so it was very classic in color scheme, as opposed to yours which automatically has a little edge because of the neon.

I absolutely LOVE this.

I don't really care about being true to style; to me it is aesthetic appeal alone that I consider.

This is beyond fab to my "eyes".

Diana, this is fa*I*ntastic. I can see why it feels too classic for you, but I think the choice of a shell and the tipping of the jacket bring you that bit closer to your style essence. You should not shy away from wearing this more often. It's classic eclectic. And - YLF.

I was not feeling inspired this morning so I was happy to see Angie's suggested grey, citron, and white ensemble on the blog! I actually don't own much citron (although I have a lot of acid green, which is a similar feel) but my citron-tipped grey Academy blazer is pretty much made for this ensemble. Paired it with a cream handknit top (not much true white in my wardrobe either), skinnies, and grey patent boots.

So Susie's thread this morning about how we respond to "different" looks resonated with me as I was wearing this outfit, because I feel like it's too classic! I actually wanted to wear a sheer white pintucked, flowy blouse, a much artier choice, but I didn't really want to freeze to death. The cream sweater I ended up wearing actually doesn't look so classic by itself (it has puffy cap sleeves) but under the blazer it seems to be reading as a classic henley shape. Curious what you think. On the one hand, it does feel rather too classic for me, but on the other hand I feel like it's true to the "eclectic" part of my style that I can sometimes be a style chameleon.

Gap Academy blazer, handknit top, Vince jeans, Gap? belt, and Naot boots.
