I know we're all familiar with "statement necklaces" but how about statement pins?</p> <p>So the other day someone at work commented on how I looked like a rockstar in my leather &amp; leather. Yesterday's dialogue with two of&nbsp;&nbsp;my young gamer guy coworkers went like&nbsp;this:</p> <p><b>Gamer guy 1</b>: "Your outfit today looks like you belong in a Harry Potter movie."<br /><b>Me:</b> "Really. What makes you say that?"<br /><b>Gamer guy 1</b>: I think it's the combination of the hat with the cape and the pin<br /><b>Me:</b> "Interesting."<br /><b>Gamer guy 2</b>: "Go team Slitherin!"<br /><b>Me:</b> "You muggles are a real pain in&nbsp;the ass."</p> <p>I do so enjoy working with these unique young men :-)</p> <p>So, the ginormous pin was a semi-accidental purchase when I worked at Zappos. We were introducing jewelry as a product type we carried and&nbsp;I had recently instituted that the product descriptions needed to include measurements, since none of the jewelry was shot on body so you could get a reference of scale.&nbsp;</p> <p>I thought this Kenneth Jay Lane snake pin was cool and very "me"&nbsp;based on the product photos and the measurement listed in the product description read "measures 3 inches." Factor in my 40% employee discount and it was a reasonable price. So I bought it.</p> <p>Got my order. Saw pin. Ummmmmm, yeah. It's 3 inches WIDE. It is over 6 inches long! (Product description fail!)</p> <p>Anyway, I decided it was still cool (but now limited as to what I can wear it on because it is both large and heavy) but I had several heavier structured coats &nbsp;I thought it would look cool on. So I kept it.&nbsp;</p> <p>I let it take center stage on this outfit. The other jewelry is thematically similar but daintier in scale and I went fully monochromatic for the reminder of the outfit (except the bag)&nbsp;in order to make the jewelry pop.&nbsp;</p> <p>Recently picked up this cool dark charcoal gray&nbsp;cashmere and wool Anne Klein cape at the thrift store for $12 and the style and weight was perfect for what has to be the biggest pin I've ever worn!</p> <p>What do you guys think?
