Fantastic outfit! I love the scarf but can relate to the trouble styling it..silky scarves move around a lot. I might have taken then ends after twisting around once and tied them at the back of my neck!

I think you look wonderful here Ann. Agree with Lisa that khaki's seem to "ordinary" for you, although I'm sure you'd find an amazing version of them.

No answers to the scarf issue... I also struggle with long thin silky ones. I have a picasso one in amazing colours that is totally orphaned because of its shape. If it's long enough, you might be able to wrap it around your neck a few times, creating a bit more bulk. And if it slips, it just goes around (although inevitable the knot will end up in front).

Love the purples/plums here. You look so great in those shades. I think the edginess / chicness may be lost with a lighter pair of pants, but I don't know. I tend to stay away from khaki color bottoms bc they remind me of baaaaaad khaki pants from the past. I'm sure if you did it you would find an amazing pair and rock them, but the vibe may be different given the lighter color.

You are another YLF'r with a magic closet. Plum suede booties and a sweater conveniently in the same colour? Sigh. I used to have a closet like this years ago - it's photos like this and outfits like this where i miss having more variety colour-wise. Anyways - I love all of this, but would wear the scarf differently. I find the way you have it there works under a coat, but for actually wearing as a piece I wear them draped around similar to how Deborah showed us above. Pretty scarf and works really well with this sweater. Not sure what you need khakis for - they seem too ordinary for you

I should also mention that this scarf is only 10 inches wide by about 6 feet, so long and narrow, vs a big rectangle of a more traditional scarf.

Fab booties!
I know silk is the luxury scarf fabric, but it is very slithery for me and also fly- about , since I do a lot of walking back & forth at work. I still and drawn to them, but like lyn67 I have collected more in fabrics that have very slight texture to hold a knot or twist and also they tend to " cling" better to front of my top. . The nicest ones are in fine tissue wools or various blends of silk, cotton, wool and linen. Rayon, too though those may read as more casual.

Love so much your color scheme! YLF in plum, and wow each of your clothing pieces is so different, including those beautiful booties! I do have a hard time with silky scarves, too... They do move around my neck, and don't have the bulk I need for my broad shoulders, so I switched to more casual ones mainly cotton and linen blend in much bigger sizes-but that's a personal prefference, I know.

Dashielle you look gorgeous. Those ankle boots!!! I like what you did with the scarf:) My favourite way of draping/tying scarves is show in the photo below. I think that might work with your scarf. You can achieve this with a long scarf, not just a square scarf:) When I have moment I will come back and link to an EF tutorial on tying scarves:)

I attended a HH on Friday with a group of fab ladies that I've had the pleasure of working with for the last 14-odd years, but who have moved on to other companies in the last year or so. The last to 'fly the nest' is leaving next week, leaving me the most tenured employee with many good memories of the work we've done bringing a new type of cancer therapy to patients.
I didn't dress specifically for this occasion, and had I known that all the beautiful people of Seattle would be in the bar we patronized, I might have put more effort into it. I determined on Thursday night that I wanted to work with an inspiration piece that is a closet orphan, so I chose a silk scarf that I rarely wear. It is a lovely plum on one side and tan, black and cream plaid on the other (with a red stripe). I was dying to wear warm, rain-proof shoes, so out came the plum Aquatalia wedge booties. From there, I chose a matching plum cashmere tunic and my trusty charcoal ponte and leather pants because I don't have any khaki ones and because the leather echoes that on the elbow patches of the sweater. The bag is a dark grey patent. I like the combo well enough, but struggled with what to do with the scarf. I tried tucking it in the sweater and knotting it in front (as seen here) but it kept moving around and ended up being very fussy. Any wild ideas out there for what to do with it next time? Sew it to my sweater, lol? I'm wondering if I should add a pair of non-chino tan/khaki pants to my arsenal for versatility...anybody having similar thoughts? Thanks for hanging with me and sharing any insights you may have.
