Buy costume jewelry and see how you like before you upgrade a piece? Also, consider accessories that might remind you of happy things - a necklace your bought on a trip, or a pair of earrings that are a reward for making it through a tough week. I’m getting better at detecting a lack of finishing touches but not better at finding such items in my wardrobe or even in store (did some window shopping today). Most of my necklaces and scarfs were bought with the brain, not the eyes or heart, and they don’t spark joy or provide that wow factor... I fear most of you won’t be able to help too much in that department as I’m unsure what I like myself and then there’s the fact that most of you are on another continent with different brands available. Still, feel free to comment on my attempts and let me know you thoughts and ideas.</p> <p>Oh yeah, this week also made me realize that short sleeve tops and dresses are really the most versatile in my climate, but I need to make sure I have interesting toppers to match. One day can go from sweater to tee, even in the office. Yet I so love simple unlayered looks and again, lack confidence in finding great toppers. Will pay special attention on a shopping trip with a friend next week.</p> <p>1) Monday was so cold I felt black tights were appropriate. I like this outfit in the picture, but always feel swallowed up by the cocoon cardigan. Could I get used to it if I just wore it more?<br /> 2) Not very succesful imo. The bomber is second-hand and I love the print. Yet I think that for it to work over pants, it needs to be shorter. Or with skinny jeans - that I hardly ever wear now.<br /> 3-4-5) Tried this look with cuffed hems but prefered slouchy actually. Wore a necklace that I like but that tends to get weird reactions, as it’s basically a thick chain. Also may be too heavy on me. Still, this needed an accessory and I liked the length and shape of the necklace with this sweater. Might try and buy a similar option.<br /> 6-7) For drinks with friends, I dressed breezier (with moto jacket, not pictured). I decided against the handkerchief scarf though in retrospect that option seems better.<br /> 8-9) Feeling womanly work outfit with and without topper. Felt fab, could probably be better with accessories.<br /> 10) Running errands and window-shopping on a rare day off just for me :). When I put this together it didn’t feel like an outfit, but I added a necklace, went with it anyway and started to feel quite good about it after a bit. Tried to belt at the waist but didn’t like the belt or the result, so not pictured. </p>
