Stunning! My fave is 6 followed by 9:). Love the neckline and Jewell tones in 6. And love Beverley's peplum outfit and I think yours is equally fab. I would suggest you may just need to adjust to the silhouette. It looks wonderful.

I agree, every outfit here is a success. The peplum works way better in you outfit than in your inspiration picture. I will mark this thread and come bak for more inspiration. You have impeccable style! I can't pick a favorite - you are so fab in every one.

You look elegant and chic in all those outfits. My feeling for 9 is that it isn't the same style s the other outfits, perhaps not your style, when I compare the others. Experimenting is maybe going to feel a bit uncomfortable and a failure in your eyes, but it does look good to me.

Wow, you are hard on yourself! I actually love 7 the most because the cobalt is stunning but all of these are winners, except I agree with you on the last one. I'm not a big fan of blousey looks anyway, though. You look gorgeous in that yellow combo, and pencil skirts were MADE for you.

Awwwww, thanks everyone! It seems like every look has its fan, which really makes me feel incredibly happy and flattered. And the fact that no one thought the peplum combo was awful is the icing on the cake! (Well, that and the fact that DH, when I came in the door told me how great I looked. Double icing? Yes, please!)

The love for 2/3 is particularly nice. I love that top. It has a fuller bottom and originally had ties that I cut off. I wore it through both pregnancies before that, though, as a very forgiving and lovely non-maternity maternity top. I'm so glad to salvage it and see that I'm not alone in adoring it!

I think you look fantastic in each of every outfit and my favorites are a toss up between the first blue and black outfit (so minimal! so flattering!), and the last blue-black-white outfit. I do think your peplum layering concept works, I prefer it to the "like" blogger's.

Rachylou, I agree. I tried it with a soft, silk blouse underneath first, thinking soft with soft would look best. Noooooo. That was a thumbs down even in DH's fashion world. So I went with crisp. I suspect that the fact that I have IT tendencies makes the layered blousy peplum look less fab for me. Now, of course, I'm hankering for a more structure peplum. But really, how ridiculous is that? Then again, there might be a really good one on sale....

#2/3 really bowled me over, but all were big winners and I'd be partial to trying #4/5.

I think the thing about #9 is that the peplum 'tank' is so much more softer than the shirt underneath.

Thanks everyone! It is very nice to know that the peplum may not knock it out of the park, but it isn't a disaster either. I'm definitely going to try it with my light colored jeans, rolled, with booties or heels and see if that works better for me. Not office appropriate, but fun date night wear!

Angie, do you mean the denim shirt? The white one has no buttons. For the denim one, I buttoned up to the top, then unbuttoned. It felt unflattering on my short neck to have it buttoned all the way up. I'm probably being too hard on my poor lovely little neck (it serves me well, after all!). I'll try it again and see how it feels.

#2 and #3 are my best. Just. So. Flattering.

#1 is my next fave followed closely by #4. Light blue and mustard look wonderful together! And #6 is fably modern classic.

I don't think the peplum outfit is a fail at all! But get if you're not comfortable. The bib necklace looks nice too. Have you tried buttoning your shirt to the top?

Wow, I think you look spectacular. You have been saving up to WOW us!

I honestly can't pick a favourite. Even the last one, that you don't care for, looks pretty good from this observer's chair. But I can understand how you feel. It is a question of how the fabrics FEEL layered as well as the plain look of it, and that peplum does look a bit soft and filmy to go over the shirt. Unfortunately, because it's a fun idea.

Your daffodil-but-really-mustard outfit made me smile because it felt so springlike; my favorite among all your wonderful looks.

How would your cobalt peplum look with a jacket popped on top, maybe even as is with the blouse underneath? It is such a gorgeous color, esp. with your blonde hair, that it would be too bad to pack it away again. I am a big peplum fan, but much prefer yours to Beverly's which makes me think of a little girl's party dress and not a grown woman's top.

I love all these outfits. Might I say I am a big fan of the classic look. Elegantly done.

1- that's a gorgeous sweater
2&3 - I was admiring the blouse and I'm glad it was reinvigorated for you
4&5 - I have a "spicy gold" skirt that I wear and looking at more ideas to remix what I have so it's really nice to see how you have done it.
6 - another new trend I am watching to see play out on others before I dip my toe in. I love how you did the purple jewel tone. Is it me or the pants don't seem too slouchy?
7&8 - I believe I have this exact Jcrew top and I haven't worn it yet. So I'm definitely loving how you used it and I'm thinking the necklace over shirt is very on trend and I'm still deciding if I like the look too.

Photo 9 - you are right, maybe try it with different pants? Otherwise it's like you said too soft to be structured for the look you are imitating?

I collected a few of my recent WIWs for a single post. Today's outfit didn't work as well as I had hoped it would, so I thought I would post it too and see if my gut feeling that it isn't working was right.

First, the WIWs that I like.
Pic 1:Angie's recommended black BR lace front sweater and cobalt.
Pics 2&3: Old BCBG top that I love. The shape wasn't working for me anymore. I tried it tucked and hooray! it reinvigorated it for me. Leopard patent pumps.
Pics 4&5: my daffodil colored skirt (sounds so much more springy than mustard, doesn't it?) with soft blue and red purse. The color adjustment hates this skirt and will not correctly depict the color, so it throws everything else off too. The colors are slightly more muted, and work better than the brights version that the picture shows. Pic 5 shows that better.
Pic 6: Jewel tones and slouchy trousers. I loved the relaxed feel the slouchy fit of the trousers gave this outfit. These are just very old trousers with a higher waist and pleats that now fit me loosely. They make a great slouchy, but tailored, trouser.
Pics 7&8: Denim and cobalt. I tried my bib necklace on over the shirt. Not sure if it works that well, but it was a fun look to try.

Finally, Pic 9, the "doesn't really work" look. I wore this today. I've had the peplum top in storage for warm weather, but was really interested in finding a way to wear it in the spring. I was inspired by the outfit posted at Beverly like Hills (Pic 10). A silk blouse was way too unstructured underneath, so I wore a crisp cotton one. I don't think the shape of this peplum works that well, though. It is more blousey than fitted and softer rather than rigid fabrication. I think the lack of structure makes it blouse out in a way that doesn't really work for my shape. A belt didn't help. So, I'll tuck the top back for the spring and wait for sleeveless weather again. That is, unless I try it with jeans and booties and it works brilliantly....

Thanks for looking (and I'd love all comments and suggestions!).
