I wear orange to a fairly smart casual workplace too, but I'm in the market for a suit to wear on the rare occasions that I need to dress up (for interviews etc). Still on the hunt for a brown, burgundy or olive one that I can still teach easily in.

That sounds like the weather here in Hong Kong, but for 9 months of the year - today was 'only' 19C at 80% humidity, but yesterday was 29C! My problem is that I generally prefer to stay covered up even in summer (AC is on nearly all year-round here), so lightweight & breathable natural materials are key. Cinnamon is a great colour when I can find it for summer - no luck yet, though!

Glad to see someone else also not consider navy as a neutral - I feel like I missed the masterclass on neutrals that everyone else seems to have taken, lol. You've done a very thorough job of collecting your finds - I keep saying I'll do it too but I've been putting off since my indoor lighting isn't great. Eventually!

I wear orange to work, but am business casual under normal circumstances. My summers are 90s and humid- so sleeveless, skirts/dresses, sandals for 6 months My neutrals are black, burgundy, brown, and cinnamon. I wear a little navy, but don't consider it neutral for me- and I pair it with black. See my finds :)
Toban is a DA too, and lives just a couple hours from me, and she wears a lot of navy and cream-besides the burgundy, orange, olive, etc.

@Suntiger It seems we're similar in the colours we can wear - the closest I can get to blue is teal.

The most difficult part is finding clothes in my colours that are still lightweight enough to wear in Hong Kong's humidity - even suiting seems to favour cool tones (like navy) these days. Any tips? (An orange suit sounds fabulous but may not be work appropriate !)

Yes deep. My hair is medium brown, though auburn works, eyes hazel, skin golden brown. People call me "olive skinned" but I just look deep tan all year. Some winter colors work on me- black and anything not too cool, as well as autumn colors. Pastels, white, most blue are awful on me.

MsMaven Thank you - orange is becoming my pseudo neutral! The shoes are by a Hong Kong comfort footwear brand called Jipi Japa. They came with their own cushy padding inside but I added my own insoles for extra comfort indoors.

Barbara Diane I bought this positively reviewed silk pillowcase from Amazon & it's been great for the price, but the lighter colour has become stained over time by my night products: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FVPEQ5S/
I'm in the market for a new pillow so I've been thinking of splurging on this black set instead (trying to get on board with paying for quality for everyday things but this still feels extravagant, despite the inevitably low cost per 'wear'):
https://discovernight.com/products/night-pillow

Angie Yayyy I finally have the 'Killer' seal of approval badge from you - I shall pin it to my YLF-issued forum backpack with pride

Thanks @Shevia ! I do feel like my hair ends up a lot less frizzy when I use a silk pillowcase - but mine is fairly long, so I usually plait it (which can contribute to rubbing & therefore static). I'm thinking about going the full monty & getting a silk bonnet/ night cap to contain all my hair as I sleep. May as well add cucumbers to my eyes too

Thanks @rachylou , they're actually my indoor shoes - popped in some insoles to make them comfy enough for teaching & the office, but brought them back when I started WFH.

Thank you, ladies! I think the reason I'm struggling with these trousers is they're short when I first put them on, but they reach the length you see now after I've worn them for a bit. I'd actually had them sitting in a holding area (with a plan to eventually replace them) when the virus hit. Lol guess I'll be wearing them for a little longer, at least.

@Kellygirl these are actually cotton sweatpants with the drawstring tucked away & the tank top worn untucked over the waistband but shh, don't tell anyone

Thanks @slim cat ! Looking back at the photo, I think wrapping the scarf so the ends reach around waist length actually works well for making the cardigan look more shapely around that area, too. Think I've found a WFH uniform that works for my lifestyle & comfort levels

I mentioned on today's blog post that I use a scarf to function as a blindfold against night light - here it is as part of my usual Pyjamas/ Loungewear (& now WFH) outfit.

I have found that cotton or linen scarves that are lightweight & gauzy (almost see-through) work best for being breathable & wrappable without creating uncomfortable bumps when you toss & turn. It also works over silk headwraps or with the silk pillowcase I use to stop my curls from frizzing up overnight.

This isn't a particularly spectacular outfit formula (I'm making do with pants that are a little higher than ankle length & a cardigan that might look too big on me - or is it just structured enough?) But I hope this DIY tip helps anyone else who's struggling to sleep against bright lights but cannot buy new things at this time. Stay safe, everyone!
