At least it is not pneumonia. You should stay in bed for a week at least and do not work - let the rest heal you. You also need some boost for your immune system - apparently it needs some help in fighting the virus. But I hadn't had a chance to get jabbed yet this year.  This isn't the flu, though. I suspect is it the enterovirus. Symptoms sound similar -- starts like a regular cold and then weirdly gets worse instead of better.  Still sick -- and the doctor confirmed virus today, so they can't offer any treatment. Who could resist?  And just the thing when you're feeling lousy.  Suz, as one who used to spend most of every February & March coughing with post-viral bronchitis, I can tell you what I learned:  at the first symptoms of a cold or flu, stop eating & drinking ALL dairy products for a week or two. There's something about those milk proteins that seems to irritate and promote post-nasal drip. Stick with clear drinks & soups, etc. This has entirely eliminated those endless weeks of coughing post flu for me. Wishing you comfort and a quick recovery. Actually I think you got in backwards. Virus infection is often with a fever but bacterial - not necessarily. Back in Ukraine doctors called 37.1C temperature "pneumonia fever" because pneumonia often is fever-less. I think that work trip last week played a big role in prolonging the illness. However you should go to the doctor tomorrow just to rule out the pneumonia and bronchitis. If he thinks it is viral then get into bed and do not leave it for anything until you are well  - your work, daughter and hubby can take care of themselves for a week. I put off going a few years back and suffered for a week - turned out I had a sinus infection and I started feeling better within 24 hrs. after starting antibiotics. I could have saved myself a lot of agony by getting there sooner.  Both pieces look super fun, and I like how you are wearing the pants in #2. I almost always cut off the ties on my sweatpants - I can't stand 'em. I haven't worn mine yet since it's still warm here but I think it'll be a nice workhorse - more interesting than a plain sweater but not crazy bling. I did the same thing as you re pneumonia a few years ago - thought I had a bad case of the flu, finally went to urgent care when the fever wouldn't go down, they took a chest x-ray and voila! Funny thing was I didn't really start coughing until the fever started going down thanks to the antibiotics; then I spent the next month hacking up a lung. Hope you feel better soon. I don't know!!  But bacterial infections have different signs. Kind of gross to discuss, but the symptoms are a little different as a rule. And if I had developed a bacterial infection secondary on a virus (which often happens) I'd probably be running a fever. Which hasn't really happened. I may have had some fever near the start but not all that much and it resolved and has not returned. Which means that -- horrid as I feel -- I am probably fighting a bad virus.  Still, at least a doctor could give me sympathy and a potential time-line for this thing, right?
