Thank you Merwoman! I came across that map at Barnes & Noble years ago; it was such a lucky find. :)

Thnx Alasse!

Approprio, I’m terrible at ironing, so I’m worried I’ll set in the wrinkles forever. lol Maybe I’ll practice on something silk I’ll less attaching to first!

Aww: thank you RachyLou! :D

Wow: thank you Angie! That’s especially exciting since I made the jacket myself, so it’s exactly what I wanted it to be. And yep, Thistle’s definitely a part of my style!

Thnx Diane. :)

LadyWone, I’m definitely not offended by being called cute; I decided years ago to just embrace that aspect of my appearance. Thank you!

Thank you Donnat!

Thnx Karie. I did a bit of modifications on the jacket to suit my longer waist, but otherwise it was just a very well written pattern.

Thank you TG!

Thnx Karin. :)

Thank you Daria!

Diana, that’s such a nice thing to say! Elegantly cosy might be one of my new aspiration phrases. Hmmm.

Thnx DakotaCheryl!

MG, knitting is great fun! And this was made in a heavier yarn, so it didn’t take as long to knit as the first sweater I made. Knitting’s pricey though, so be warned! I got the pattern & yarn as a Christmas gift, but if I’d bought it on my own it would’ve come to around $70 total I think. Which is insane to me, considering I’m used to secondhand prices! Anyway, I think an advanced beginner could handle this jacket, as it’s mainly just knitting.

Thank you Aubergine!

Thnx Shevia. :)

Beth Ann, I agree! If I were still in Texas I’d have been doing the fantasy vs reality challenge all week, but now I pretty much get to live my fantasy. And I love your description, full of so many good words for me to ponder. Now that I’m only a year away from thirty, I’m especially contemplating my style and how to perhaps tweak it.

Tulle, since I’m in the US, it’s the Episcopal church, so it doesn’t use quite the same book as the Anglican church, thanks to the revolution and all. I think my church rotates between the older and newer US books, depending on the service. Sadly there’s no thees and thous in the Lord’s Prayer though.

Thank you Lyn! I’m glad the creases look intentional to you. :D

Thnx Astrid! It’s Halogen, which I believe is a house brand of Nordstrom actually! Good quality, but definitely a lighter autumn/spring coat vs deep winter one.

Thank you Tanya!

AG, I’ve been knitting for 2 years now, so I’m probably at the intermediate stage instead of beginner now. But this one was actually fairly easy, and I think a confident advanced beginner would be fine. The pattern really did almost all of the work! But thank you.

Lovely subtle tones, and a beautifully knit jacket for Spring. If you don't mind telling, E., does your church still use the old Book of Common Prayer? I still have my copy, and remember most of it by heart. The "new and improved" version sounds so wrong to my ear, I'd like to think that somewhere people are still being treated to the old, exquisite words and cadences.

So lovely. I already told you on ravelry that I love that sweater, but I'll say it again because it's an amazing sweater. I LOVE THAT SWEATER. Th combo of the silk dress, slouchy boots, and the knit jacket is really appealing all together. Lots of juxtaposed but complementary textures and it all feels elegantly cozy.

Very belatedly! I took these photos on Easter Sunday obviously, but then between getting the apartment ready for the cat, getting myself ready for my trip, and developing an evil head cold, I didn't have any time to post.

I knew I wanted to wear the jacket that I knit, because its robin's egg blue colour seems the epitome of spring to me, and I'd worked hard to get it done in time to enjoy it this season! I also suspected that the Easter service at my church would be quite dramatic (I go to an Episcopal church that's progressive in its beliefs but high in its services, which are entirely sung or chanted and involve two organs and an incredible choir), so I donned a silk dress underneath (which I'm afraid to iron in case I scorch it, so I tell myself the wrinkles look intentional...any tips for ironing silk would be appreciated!). I added a slightly heavier necklace to fill in the neckline and my matching gold rings for my fingers. No point in bracelets, since my sweater has full length sleeves, and the church is actually a cathedral, and thus fairly chilly inside. There was a forecast of snow, so I needed warm legs, and I knew that most of my hosiery would be covered up by boots anyway, so I opted for light tights to bring a touch of spring in! And my taupe hand knit socks to bookend.

For outerwear, and of course I kept the boots on in church, I pulled on my dressy knee high grey boots (as dressy as I get anyway) and added this new coat. I actually got it as part of my fall/winter capsule, as I'd wanted to add a tweed coat and came across this one for cheap (I got it for $16 including shipping) on Ebay when choosing my spring/summer additions; I couldn't resist its blue/grey colours or the Peter Pan collar (which I've included a close up of)! But it turns out early spring here in the north definitely still requires lighterweight wool coats, so I've already gotten quite a bit of wear out of it. The light blue accents seemed just right for the Easter holiday. I felt I blended in well to the congegration, which is all over the place when it comes to dressing anyway: not so formal that I stood out but not so casual that the older generation would be horrified. hehe
