First of all, B. and I joined my sister and some friends at a ticketed Halloween costume party, which was a blast - there were some amazingly creative costumes there (including a "jellyfish", which was a woman in a sheath dress holding a paper-covered umbrella with long fabric streamers and a glow-stick in a hat over her head; a couple dressed as a "double rainbow"; another couple dressed in homemade boxes that transformed them into an electrical outlet and socket, complete with prongs that fit into each other's costumes and paper lanterns with light bulbs inside, a group dressed up as the cast of the Gangam Style video, and another group dressed up as the characters from Anchorman.<br /> I opted to dress as Merida, the main character from the recent Pixar movie "Brave." (See photos #3-4.)</p> <p>Today B. and I started out joining several of our friends for Dim Sum in Seattle's international district - it was a delicious way to open up the morning. Then my sister and I visited one of our very close friends who just had a baby a few weeks ago. She is an absolute doll. I'm actually one of those people who doesn't naturally gravitate towards babies, mainly because my childcare experiences have mainly involved children over 9 months old; infants intimidate me. But my friend's baby is incredibly tranquil and cuddly, and we spent the better part of the afternoon trading off snuggling with her. Such a sweetheart. I can't wait to get to know her as she grows up.</p> <p>I layered my black soft button-down blouse with a white bird print underneath a gray and black striped knit top and a cobalt blue knit pencil skirt. My dalmatian-spotted low heels seemed like just the right addition.<br /> In the past I've found it tricky to layer button downs or woven blouses smoothly under knit tops, but <a href="http://shop.nordstrom.com/s/two-by-vince-camuto-bird-print-blouse/3360580?origin=PredictiveSearch&amp;contextualcategoryid=0&amp;fashionColor=Rich+Black&amp;resultback=750">this Two by Vince Camuto blouse</a>, one of the new pieces that I brought home from southern California, is a pretty easy layering piece. The rayon fabric is very thin and soft, so the bodice doesn't seem stiff and uncomfortable, and the collar and cuffs fold back easily but stay in place. I'm not sure whether the photos I've taken so far do it justice. </p>
