When pain is omnipresent, it's impossible to think of anything else other than relieving it. And hospitals (at least in my experience) aren't the best places in terms of really seeing people and meeting them where they are, instead imposing a sort of one-size-fits-all rigidity, which can feel dehumanizing. My SO's father is in hospice mode right now, as the result of cancer, but thankfully his pain is being effectively managed and he is reasonably comfortable.</p> <p>I am not surprised you have received compliments--your style is a standout!
