Thanks Staysfit! I think that Colour Analysis is not a pure science - and some people don’t fit neatly into a category. I agree you are light and probably that’s more important than the undertone.

I do think that it can make it harder and easier to shop - I think at the moment autumn colours are more prevalent here.

Happy Birthday Sal! I’m glad you feel good about your color season results. Clear, warm, some contrast, nice! The dress looks perfect and it’s great that you naturally drifted towards your best colors and already have many of them in your wardrobe.

As you may know, my personal experience with seasonal color typing has been endlessly confusing. I have been typed as a Spring, Summer, Autumn, Soft Autumn and Light Summer. I suppose I’m definitely not a winter!

My last in person color analysis placed me into the light summer color season, but it was a very close call between light spring and light summer. I am apparently very neutral…eyes, skin and maybe even my hair. My skin is a pale olive and leans a tiny bit warm however the warmest of warms makes me look sallow and brings out the redness of my rosacea. At the in person typing, the cool colors had a very slight edge over the warm. I have since learned that people who are light/fair can more easily wear both warm and cool colors, especially in the winter months when skin is most pale. I find this is true for me. I generally do best with the midrange to light colors in my light summer swatch palette. I have a light spring palette from which I can wear all but the warmest tones. Yellows, oranges, pinks and reds are the hardest colors for me to wear. I match pinks and reds with my lips, gums, and/or cheeks when I blush. In terms of depth of color, I find anything darker than the teal ring around my iris feels heavy.

I have found it tricky to find clothes that fall into my color palette that also fits my personal sense of style. I do best sticking with a narrow range of neutrals and adding colors when they are right.

I used Colours to Keep - colour me beautiful. I looked at one or two locally and I liked Crystelle’s approach.

https://www.instagram.com/colo.....Fidms4YQ==

I actually went through my closet with the swatch this morning and I don’t have too many pieces not in the swatch. A fuschia old hoodie, a murky blue tee, couple more active wear tees
and my red leather jacket were the only ones I found.

Thanks Firecracker. My birthday was 2
June - it was a lovely day.

Happy birthday Sally! That was a great way to spend the gift money and make its effect last, your Dad should be pleased. Lovely dress that looks awesome with your coat.
I would like to ask which company you went with? I have been wondering about paying for a colour analysis myself. We have Colour Me Beautiful very near my home and I know of the woman who does it, she used to be a model but quite a relatable one eg modelled for our nearby small mall. As I have spent zero on clothing this calendar year so far it seems I could put it towards that happily. I have thought I am some sort of Spring since my 20s but it would be interesting to see if I am correct!

Haha Pirouette - I won’t tell anyone!!

Suntiger - I suspect you know where you fit in with the colour analysis. I think you are a dark autumn. I do agree in person rather than online. There were some colours where I could clearly see that it suited or didn’t suit me - on the list that didn’t work were silver, pastels, and the true jewel tones - the greyed soft summer tones are also not flattering to me. But others that are not in my palette could still work - but the clear colours definitely made me look better.

That’s helpful Angie - I try to wash my hair every second day too. In honesty it usually makes it 1. 5 days so by the night of day two it looks and feels a bit oily. It was easier when I could tie it up. I have an appointment next week so will have a chat to my hairdresser.

Thank you Helena - I think all the palettes are lovely. I was pleased to get guidance on some neutrals - ivory and pewter brown were lovely - as was charcoal.

Sweet Sal, I had the same concern regarding the oil in my hair. And dying it kept it less oily. I've been 100% natural for two and half years now. Dry shampoo REALLY helps with that! And so does not washing your hair daily. I wash every second day, and it has reduced the oil over time.

I don't do a sweaty workout though, which helps. When I was doing hot yoga in a studio, I HAD to wash my hair the next day.

Hope that helps.

I'd be curious to get a color analysys done- though I doubt there are any near me. I think it's definitely something that needs to be done in person.

Happy birthday Sal. I think you look great in your new dress. I had my colours done years ago and was a light spring. Black wasn’t in my palette and I wear and still wear black so I have been rule breaking all my life.

Thanks Chris - it is fun and a customised palette also sounds awesome. If my hair was natural I could see that our colouring is not too different - I do have a definite warm undertone in person though. I think knowing how to bend the rules is fun too - I have a lilac dress that I love when I wear it with yellow or gold, and dislike when I wear it with black. Look forward to following your progress.

Christel - yes I am planning to experiment with some new shades (when I see them). I don't expect a drastic change but a gradual one.

Angie - your colours are self explanatory! Definitely bright and warm but you can carry off some sour shades that lean a little cooler. I think you can wear lighter colours than me. And optic white is not good on me, but chalky white is. I don't know what to do re my hair - my hair is quite oily and the blonde helps keep that in check as well.

Cardiff Girl - thank you! Yes I can see you as a light spring - and no need to follow all the rules is there....

Haha Dee - it was lucky! I do have a few things not in my palette. The grey marle tee and the lilac tee are both too cool on me - as gear though I don't worry too much. The floral dress is probably a soft summer palette or soft autumn but I think it does work well enough. And of course all the black......

Carol - yes Star has pointed you in the right direction. Clear Winters can wear some warmer colours too - whilst it was fun and I think useful, i do think you can work some of it out independently. I was pretty sure I was a spring although I would have chosen warm spring - I can wear lots of these colours but the clear spring was in general better.

Stylefan - you are in the right sector now I am sure!! I love the warm autumn colours.

Jaime - I agree. i do plan to look at my pieces with the swatch this weekend to see how they fit in. I was pleased to have black included in the palette!!

Happy Birthday, Sal! What a great way to spend your birthday money!
Clear Spring colours look gorgeous on you. It seems you intuitively knew they were your "season."

I have had my colours done several times. I last went for my 60th birthday (8 years ago). The analyst used a 16-season system. The first time I went in the early 80s, there were 4 seasons.

I liked this analyst, and I felt comfortable with the process. She determined that I was a Warm Autumn.

Thanks Mirjana, Star, Robin and Sisi - it was fun and helpful. I do love the dress too. My friend's found it for me when we were shopping together which I very rarely do (once every three or four years) - I had to get it altered but it was on sale - and they were right!!

cat2 - good to hear! Your approach sounds similar to mine - it's a good guide and helpful way to move forward with colours.

Brooklyn - the analyst was complementary of my coat. It's a good match with lots of my wardrobe items. And yes I thought it was a fun thing to allocate the money towards.

Joy - yes the dress has sleeves. For me this will work for most of the year - potentially not mid summer - but I may wear it to a wedding next year - yet to decide!

Happy Birthday, Sal! Such a fun way to spend Dad's sweet gift to you :)

KILLER dress! No wonder you love it. It loves you right back! Gorgeous with the earthy support act. You looked perfect for the appointment!

HIGH FIVE! I'm a Clear or Warm Spring too. Even with my new honey blonde hair. The palettes below are self explanatory.

Watery pastels, greyed tones, and murky colours don't like me either. Although I wear a saturated pastel well - like my light blue specs. I also wear all shades of white - not just ivory.

I'm loving the idea of leaning into your natural ashy brown hair. Another fun colour experiment!

Happy Birthday! Really pretty new dress, you look great in florals and in those colors. I'm glad the analysis gave you validation and even a few more colors to try. Would love to see you in any of those too if you decide to give them a whirl.

Happy Birthday and thanks so much for posting this!

I too had a color analysis done this year. The process was different from yours, hair color WAS included. The results were a custom palette, not a specific season, but as other fabbers commented, it sounded like soft summer. It had a lot of cooler colors, although I am typically drawn to slightly warmer ones. There was no specific analysis of contrast levels, although I tend to stick with low contrast. It was fun but the results were not especially enlightening and felt just a little bit off.

Your coloring is similar to mine (maybe just a bit warmer) and summary "feels" a lot more like what I prefer ...

A Clear Spring - which is means clarity, contrast and warmth. I already knew some of my good colours - but I discovered a few more including charcoal and a dark green, and lots of the blues. I do avoid murky colours and pastels which is the right call for me. Gold was much better than silver, it was very obvious.

So... I'm going to skew in that direction ..thanks again or posting. As Suntiger would say... <stealing and running off with your warmer colors>

Happy Birthday. Enjoy the new dress and colors. The color is wonderful on you. I agree with Suz that the dress could be multi seasonal, especially with the topper. Does the dress have sleeves?

How fun! I found having a sense of my best colors has helped me with outfit creation. I didn’t toss anything off palette; instead I worked on how to make it fit by — in my case — warming it up by combining it with on palette pieces. It also gives you permission to just ignore trending colors that just don’t work for you.
