I am so glad you're feeling better! I think you have nailed "American Classic" here - like you're ready to step on a sailboat and enjoy a bright day out on the water :) This outfit is very cute on you, and it looks clean and minimalist to my eye. Jewelry or a scarf would be icing roses on your cake, but the cake by itself looks really great today.

Thanks all,

I definitely think that having a more substantial shirt would make the tuck thing work better. I bought several of the Gap "Favorite" tees online and was pretty disappointed at how flimsy they are. I'm not generally a t-shirt wearer, but I have learned to love the versatility of a plain one in different colors to layer under some kind of topper.

Pawprints - the shoes are comfy and easy to wear. They weren't at all expensive. I probably got them at Rack Room or something (one of those places that is just a giant store of shoes). I'm sure I got them on sale and didn't pay more than $20 for them. Sometimes little finds like that turn out to be my best!

Rute - I love scarves too. I haven't worn them in a while for the same reason I haven't worn jewelry: The boys want to yank off anything and everything that isn't glued to me. This includes my shirts! LOL I always have little hands groping around in the top of my shirts. It's very attractive in the supermarket, I'm sure!

As the weather gets cooler I'm definitely going to pull out the scarves again though. I have a lot of them and miss wearing them.

I'm glad you are better now!
Lovely. If you don't wear jewelery, what about a scarf? I love scarfs!

Wow! You look beautiful! The color of the sweater is just perfect on you! - and I don't think your semi-tuck looks bad at all! Also, the shoes are great. I'm so sorry to hear that you've been ill and hope that you are well on your way to recovery!

It must feel great to be getting back in your feet and in clothes. Abdominal surgery is a long heal.

Speaking of feet, I love love those shoes. They must be what I was looking for this spring and summer when I bought 3 pairs of colorful casual shoes and ended up wearing them almost not at all. Yours look so fresh and easy.

Glad you are feeling better. It sounds as if you have had a tough summer. You look comfortable and at ease for someone who has just escaped the hospital! The semi tuck does take some getting used to, but it's brilliant. You might need a tee in a drapier fabric to make it feel natural to you.

Glad you are feeling better, it sounds like you have been through quite a lot. I like the faux tuck and am just getting used to it myself. It seems like my shirts are either too long or too short, I really don't know what the right length is for a faux tuck! The color of the sweater looks great on you, and the sneaks look fun.

I hope that you are feeling stronger each day. You look great. Keep working on that semi tuck. I find it a great way to disguise a tummy and muffin top with the diagonal line it forms. I hope it never goes out of style.
You could also try tops with high- low hems for a similar look.

JennyK, so good to see you back on the forum! Sorry to hear about the illness and surgery. I hope this means that things are looking up now?
That sweater color is pretty on you. I think if the tee was a little
longer, it would tuck better, but take that for what little it's worth because I haven't been able to feel comfortable with the semi tuck yet.
Even with a tee and jeans, you still look beautiful and it's hard to believe you're a mom to twin boys.

I didn't mention this before, but I've been ill for a while. It culminated in a several-day stay in the hospital around the beginning of August, a few days home, and then abdominal surgery 2 weeks ago. Needless to say, I have worn literally nothing but pajamas for weeks now! Today was my follow up appointment with the surgeon, so it was my first opportunity to put on real, grown-up clothes and step out of the house.

I'm wearing a Gap "favorite" tee, which is thinner than I'd hoped. The little sweater is from Target. I bought a couple like this a few years ago and have worn the snot out of them! So when I saw these I bought them in practically every color. LOL I need to be creative with them.

The jeans are Gap 1969 Long & Lean. I love them. My belly is still a little bloated from the surgery so I was surprised I could button them. I'm trying to do the half-tuck thing, which I've never been comfortable with. I have a feeling it just looks like I am trying to disguise serious muffin top and am not succeeding very well at it.

The shoes are cute things I bought somewhere (don't remember) last summer or the summer before. Who remembers? LOL

What do you think? Suggestions for amping it up? I don't wear a lot of jewelry stuff right now because the kids just try to yank it off of me!

ETA - just noticed the dirt on my shoes. oops! Real life.
