Suz, I was going to start a gripe thread about BR. I have been having troubles ordering online too!

The XS P did seem to be a better length on me. The shoulders were fine (I don't mind having the shoulder seam slightly inset... as long as everything else fits and it's not bunching around the neckline, etc, I figure it gives the illusion of narrower shoulders). The problem was that the stripes warped at the chest. Elsewhere, it fit just fine, and if it had been solid, I'd probably have bought the XSp. But with stripes? Nope. Sizing up to the S eliminated the warping. (This issue, by the way, is why I gave up on striped tops there for a long while!)

Hmmm. I am sure the petite was shorter on me than the regular.

That is very strange.

I went for the small P too, not for the chest, but in my case for the shoulders.

I measured where the regular came on me and where the petite did and there was a definite difference.

It makes me wonder about their quality control. I am irritated with them at the moment, too, for reasons having to do with online orders. But I'll save that grumble for another post. I am glad you got these items because problems aside, they look really nice on you.

Moira, I will have to try it with our pink skirt!

Yes, this clutch works well for carrying a lot of stuff. A lot of the envelope-style clutches are super cute but made of stiff material and quite thin... like a, well, envelope! They don't fit a lot. This one is different. I wouldn't want to over stuff it, but it does manage to contain:

- Wallet
- Foldable hair brush
- lipsticks
- sunglasses
- bulky set of keys
- kleenex
- gum
- iphone

... with room to spare, and without ruining the look of the bag either. I think you could easily stash a pack of cigs in there as well. More importantly, for someone our height, this one is perfectly proportioned to get the oversized clutch look, which was what I was going for.

That striped shirt with your (our) pink skirt would be awfully cute, I think.
I have resisted the daytime clutch because I carry a lot of stuff. Wallet. Keys. Cigs(bad, I know). Regular glasses and sunglasses. Stuff.
This looks like it could fit the bill.

Suz, I did get the petite. I tried it on first in regular, at the store (my closest one has seriously downsized their petite offerings, which leaves me despondent). I really liked it but felt it was too long, so I went to order it online, only to have my order rejected -- AGAIN-- saying it had already sold out? This happened a month ago with a different order. I am very frustrated with BR, because the sweater is still being offered online. Anyway... I wound up driving to the BR in the 'burbs ... which is a PITA ... but they do have a good petite selection, and I was happy to find this sweater in petite.

Unfortunately, despite all of that, I really see NO difference at all in the length! I brought in the XS, S regular and the XS, S petite and the regular and petites seemed identical except for the label. (I went with the S rather than the XS.. gives me a bit extra room in the chest).

As for the ipad case/clutch, yes, it's just like a clutch.. with a zipper at the top. Even DH said it made a bad ipad case, if that's what it was intended for. The SA may have been wrong. I dunno. All I know is that I like it. And yes it fits everything I want to carry (except maybe a scarf).

JR-- I do the scrunch thing too, but not sure that works with a striped top? I may be over-thinking. At any rate, I like it with the half-tuck and belt. As for pic 1 and pattern mixing, I was dubious. Felt like I may have gone all crazy-lady. But I ventured out like that anyway, and warmed up to it a bit. It's a daring look and probably better reserved for days when I am feeling daring. Which isn't this week (still struggling with a cold).

I love the striped top, both for its own sake and on you. It is very flattering for you. As to the length untucked, we would have to see it. When I have a top like that and I want it a bit shorter, I scrunch it a bit around my torso, creating a slightly ruched effect. It works if you want a casual look, as opposed to crisp and in control.

As for pattern-mixing, I have a bit of a poison eye, I'm afraid. I only enjoy it when it's quite low-key. I don't see leopard print as a neutral, and I don't like mixing prints like that. BUT I am in the minority on that point, and what you are doing is totally on trend. No matter what you do, not everybody is going to like it. So the biggest point is, do you like it?

Okay, first of all, you are wearing Angie's blog post of today in look #2. It looks fantastic on you!

Second, not only are we now blouse twins (with the AT leopard print blouse) but we are sweater sisters. I got this same BR sweater in the navy with white stripes. Ariadne has it, too! I like it a lot. Did you get the petite version? It fit me better than the regular; I tried them both for comparison.

Third, the pattern mix is not too much. And I love the ipad case as clutch. But is it closed like a clutch? Can you put stuff in it?

More weekend casual looks -- mostly because without my teenage photographer it's difficult to get photos of my weekday looks. These two outfits are very similar. A formula.

pic 1:
- AT silk blouse (navy, cream, taupe)
- BR leopard clutch
- AT cream pleather jacket
- INC black ponte knit pants
- Me-too 3-inch black suede booties

pic 2 & 3:
- same jacket, same pants, same clutch
- red pashmina
- BR striped long sleeve sweater, half tucked
- nine west brown pleather wedge tall boots
- daughter's brown belt

Comments/ questions/ concerns:

1) I have been looking for just the RIGHT striped top for awhile now. What do you think? I got a lot of compliments when I wore this one. The top is very cozy and comfy, and it makes me happy. Stripes tend to be difficult for me because they'll pull funny across the chest. Does this one work okay? I also usually don't wear crew necks. I tried this on in the version that is black and white (imagine the colors reversed) and that didn't seem to work for me. It seemed to work better with the white near my face instead?

2) The striped top is quite long. I think it works half-tucked here, but how else can I wear it? I am thinking of wearing it with a pencil skirt, but it will hit just above crotch?

3) The clutch: I bought this same time as the striped top. I saw it on the BR site and immediately thought it would fulfill my desire for a day clutch, in leopard. (I now have a clutch, booties, and belt in leopard). But as the SA was ringing it up, she said it was an ipad case?? That's not what I bought it for! I am using it here as a clutch. Does it work or do I look silly?

4) Big question: Did I go overboard with the pattern mixing in pic 1?? There's pattern in the blouse and the clutch.. too much?? I wasn't sure. I have worn this blouse with a leopard belt OR leopard booties, but that is more "small doses." The clutch is a bigger dose, and closer to the top. Too much?

5) Either outfit would have worked fine with dark blue denim skinnies, but I felt like wearing the black ponte knits instead this weekend.
