I, too, see the vest as outerwear, and I think it's a great topper for this outfit. I wouldn't try to wear it as indoor-wear. To me, the style (with collar, buttons, and pockets) and shape (a little boxy or swing) make it ideal for the coat-without-sleeves look that MaryK mentions. That said, I am not a huge fan of this one either, but at the same time it reminds me of a favorite sweatshirt that you wear just to feel comfy and cozy and it scores points for the comfort factor and gets away with a little bit of lack of chic. Every other element of this outfit I adore, btw, and so that helps a lot in allowing for the black vest, which is bookending and echoing all the other black present here, yet not overwhelming because of the brilliant pop of green. (I love that scarf so much! It was a very casual get together and where we went is quite cold so I decided layering was the best option.</p> <p>Wearing black skinny jeans, b &amp; w striped long sleeve T layered under green oversized sweater (the color IRL is much brighter). </p> <p>I wear the black faux fur vest as outwear so added it and the scarf for when were outside.
