Even as late as the 50's and early 60's people were very concerned about wearing the right uniform. Even later my father refused to wear jeans and didn't see how we could because he and we were not farmers. He mowed the yard in a suit and old dress shoes.<br /> My mother who was having problems with skirts getting caught in her wheelchair, could not imagine wearing a trendy jogging outfit because she obviously was not a jogger.
